Getting rag-dolled around certainly would He's absolutely got the talent to make it and it seems the work ethic is there too, so hopefully one solid summer in the weight room will be enough so he won't get tossed around.

For what it's worth, Patrick Kane (ze hockey player??) is listed on NHL.com at 5'11'', 181 lbs.

I doubt Kane really is 5'11.

I doubt Drouin is either, we'll see at the combine.

The point is, if we assume equivalent fudging on their numbers, the guys nearly have the same build already, despite Drouin being a recent 18-year-old.

I lol'd at the bolded.

But I hope all of you are right. I am excited to get any of the top 3 because they are all elite players, but both MacKinnon and Drouin need some weight room time before they are successful against men, in my opinion.

I hope these questions about Drouin's size are related to his build/strength...

Because, you know, if there is one fan base in hockey that should not give a **** about a player's height, it's Lightning fans. Height is not everything.

I think he could stand to put on a little muscle, but he's also 18. It will come with time, especially when he gets around professional strength and conditioning coaches.

Marty is dense as hell. Drouin will be alright from a physical perspective. He's not underweight or anything, and since his game relies more on skill than strength (unlike Barkov, for instance), I don't think he'll have as hard of an adjustment in that area. The place he's going to need adjustment is the speed of the game and the quality of the defenders. We'll see how ready he is for that after 9 games next year.

I am absolutely referring to his build/strength. 5'11 isn't small at all for a winger. The only thing I'm worried about is his ability to be able to survive NHL hits.

St Louis is listed at 5'8. Is he really though? He looks shorter to me.

If he's even shorter than 5'8, then it's even worse. If Marty is 180 pounds and is 5'7 or shorter, how much should Drouin weigh at a listed 5'11?

I get the feeling he'll be on the Connolly bubble, too good for juniors (2PPG ) and too young for the Crunch. It will be interesting to see how it's handled, IMO unless he blows Cooper away, he'll be back in the Q

Drouin's weight is not much of an issue for me, especially since he plays a smart brand of hockey like Kane. Adding a bit more muscle to that frame would certainly help, but it shouldn't be a deterring factor. He's not 160 lbs like RNH either.

Quick question guys, How would a package around Voynov or Hammer and #3 work? I really like Voynov and Hammer. Obviously balancing would be needed. I have been thinking about it today and wanted to know what everyone else thought about it.

No. I say this as a fellow Tampa fan with your best interests in mind, please stop. We have enough "proposals" from other teams' fans.

Well maybe not #3. But I like the thought of having Hammer and Hedman as our top line. Voynov would be played on the second pairing.

I agree with you on that, but by no means would it be worth sacrificing a prospect with elite potential like Drouin for a defenseman like Voynov or Hammer. Even trading a good to great prospect like Connolly would likely be able to return us a defenseman better than either one of them.

Sad truth is we don't have the depth to give up on Brewer just yet. Also, we need to take a long hard look at the fact that Cooper and his "you'll ****ing play defense, or you'll play elsewhere" system *should* show some improvement in quite a few guys, notably Carle and Brewer.

^ Hjalmarsson=Hammer?

Also, the Kings won't be parting with Voynov.

Oh oh. I know him as meatball from that ridiculous ikea commercial. Still, I like him but I see him as a two or really solid 3. Not sure that does it for me.

If we're looking for a "top four" defenseman, I'd be extremely happy with Hjalmarsson.

I wonder if one of Staal/Girardi will be available.

As much as I'd love to have either, they both are off-limits. NYR has issues defensively as it is and scrambled once Staal went down to injury. Their top 4 of Staal/Del Zotto/McDonagh/Girardi will likely be together for years.

I can't see Chi moving Hjalmarsson either as they need the defense and are relatively stacked up front (Toews, Kane, Sharp, Hossa and Saad). However, Phoenix has some very intriguing defensemen in Yandle, Ekman-Larsson, Rundblad and Gormley and lack firepower up front so we could make ideal trading partners. Connolly (maybe a little more) for Rundblad?
