Oh! I almost forgot to ask! How did the Giants do?

Oh, that's right. They lost.

Just like last year.

That's why they installed the loud horn in the EEC, don't you know?

My prediction is that the Ice will win it in six.

Although they were quite fortunate in the first round against Kamloops they have some dangerous players around, like Nigel Dawes, Dale Mahovsky, Leafs 2003 third round pick Martin Sagat and Ryan Russell. Their goaltending is solid too with world champion Jeff Glass between the pipes. During the regular season Ice won two out of three so I think they have the advantage.

Consider yourselves lucky the Giants lost. I think we all remember how the Tips did vs the Giants this year.

And just think: the Giants will have ALL SUMMER to think about it too!

Anyway, heading to Cranbrook tomorrow morning for games 1 & 2.

Go Tips!

quite possibly and won't you be happy!

The team that got all the WHL castoffs!

The team who gets no respect despite last year going to the finals.

The team who this year is the youngest team in the CHL.

And won yet another game 7.

And played this last series without two of its 20 year olds...

The team who plays disciplined hockey.

The team that has never had a "player of the month."

The team without the superstar draft picks.

The coach that doesn't get in the top 5 of the "COACH" thread on this board.

The team whose attendance outdraws most teams in the WHL.

Maybe they will lose in the next round (and maybe they will paly Seattle or Kelowna). But I will be proud of them.

So tell me how proud are you of the Giants?

Not very proud. Although they did step it up in the playoffs. I was proud of them for that.

And I was tempted to comment on a few of the things you listed there, but I decided not to. Don't want to add more fuel to the fire.

No superstar draft picks YET.

Zach Hamill is gonna go top 5, and Calla and Irving might turn out to be good prospects too. Of course, they'd be better if they played for someone else.

That might be true for the regular season, but 6100 or so on a Saturday night, when your team has a chance of winning the series, is down right pathetic. Take away the Hawks fans and I'd say you down to about 5600-5500 fans.

The Hawks drew about 9700 on a week day night for game seven.

Furthermore, as far as regular season attendance, doesn't surprise me the Tips have decent attendance, after all, what else is there to do in Everett?

No doubt the Winterhawks are one of the best supported teams in the league. I did not include them in "most" teams the Tips outdraw. Of course the rink in Seattle is only 23 miles away.... two WHL franchises being supported in 23 miles. Seattle's attendance slump has more to do with them ruining the Key Arena for hockey. Build them a barn like we have and they will outdraw us, I believe.

When we have been in the league 20 or 25 years, I suspect we will have no problem filling the rink for every game too.

Next time you are in Everett, look me up, I'll show you around...

And not all Tips fans live in Everett. I drive down from Mount Vernon for the games, which is 35 miles from my driveway to the EEC. Moreover, if I still lived in Seattle, which has plenty more to do than Portland, I would still make the drive to Everett to get my hockey fix rather than watch T-Birds games at Key Arena. That building is fine for basketball, but it just plain sucks for hockey.

Hamill has the physical skills. Hands down. Won't argue with that. He needs to work on his mental game before the word 'draft' even slips out of his mouth.

Like I said, the Tips would know how the Giants felt very soon. Congrats to Kootenay.

Well they have nothing to hang their heads about. All four games were tied late in the third period. Two went to OT. All against the team with the best record. Coupla bounces and we're still playing! Ask Kooteney if it was a walk in the park...

A sweep it was though.

No excuses, but contributing factor:
Only one over-ager for the entire series... the other two, including the captain, were scratched due to injury for virtually the whole thing.

Congrats to the Ice, they are a class team. I hope they go all the way!

The people in Cranbrook are great. Never felt so welcome on the road. What a fantastic weekend in a great place, despite losing two games up there...
