Not mad that this period is over, one of the worst of the season.

Gonchar, Regin, Wiercioch and Latendresse are the only players who played well in that period.

We'll need more soldiers

We're missing a good portion of our Buffalo killers too though.

Havlat gone, Heatley gone, Corvo gone, Spezza not back yet.

Well, Kassian won't be doing that to Gerbe so I think you'll have to get used to seeing Neil play his usual game. His role hasn't changed.

Couple bone-headed plays. Bishop had no idea where the puck was on that 2nd goal.

There was one shift where we had no speed due to a series of poor passes and missed pucks. Kept trying to carry it into the Sabres zone from a standstill at centre. Just kept getting stood up at the line by triple-coverage on the puck carrier.

The game is not over by any means, I agree with you, but, we can't afford to go down 3-0.

Habs are the best team in the East and it was expected that the Sens would lose, while the Sabres on the other hand seem to be tankin for Mackinnon.

So the same amount of icetime as Mark Stone then. More than I was expecting.

Damnit. Really needed two points here... this was a win on the road we had to have down the stretch. Let's hope they can regroup.

An image doesn't show the whole play properly. Just before the puck went to the point Kassian had to follow a player who went back door and then down to the front side of the net. He was a bit slow reacting to the back door play so really wasn't effective but at the same time he couldn't cover the point too. The whole line plus the D didn't play that well. Isolating one forward instead of Regin or Condra wouldn't be fair since he wasn't directly responsible for losing the puck or making a bad play.

On the second goal a few guys could be blamed but it was Smith who gave up the turnover leaving the zone and a few guys covered it badly. We could easily point to lots of other bad plays since no one had a particularly good 1st period.

Although Kassian handling Gerbe wouldn't be so much of a fight as a whack-a-mole game. Last joke, I promise.

Yup same.

I don't think he should be even playing that much, haha

He doesn't look too good and is a -1 so far

I was all for the trade, but i thought he'd only be used for teams with heavyweights!

Team has to claw its way back into this game. One goal at a time.

Completely agree with the guys on Sportsnet regarding Gonchar. I really hope we don't deal him at the deadline for picks.

Agreed, however Buffalo looks like they will probably score a few more tonight. Bishop giving up rebounds and Ottawa has zero ability to stop a cycle.
