The Pens could probably work Iginla into the cap if he were signed somewhere in the neighborhood of, say, $5MM. The question is whether or not he'd sign for that amount considering it's probably his last big payday and someone else will almost certainly offer him more. The bigger question is whether he'd re-sign here at all or bolt back to Calgary to finish out his career (and before anyone says it, I get that Jarome is a loyal guy and you're sure he'd re-sign, yadda yadda...but that loyalty is and always will be to Calgary first). It makes sense to treat this like any other deal for a trade deadline rental and not make any assumptions going forward.

No, they don't they need guys who win draws. Kruger/Shaw/Bolland have been good down the middle. They just can win a draw consistently. Iginla does that. I'd take him for Clendenning and one of Stalberg/Bickell of Frolik. No first though

Iginla is actually very good in the dot, and has been taking a lot of draws this season

You have to know that won't be enough to get Iginla though

As Goodlad pointed out, Iginla is actually quite good on the dot. That offer is horrendous though.

So how would you work it then, if you acquired Iginla. Move Kane back to C and have Iginla help him out with faceoffs? When does Sharp come back?

That's more or less how it's worked this season in Calgary when Tanguay has centered the Iginla line. Iginla wins the draw then goes right to the wing.

Probably just leave everything the same, putting Iginla with Bolland as his C and letting Iginla take the draws. When Sharp comes back, we shuffle things up.

Yeah, sorry, that was phrased stupidly. I was more wondering about who would be moved to C in Chicago than about the technical bit about the FO's.
