Evgeny Kuznetsov to Detroit

I know it's a pipe dream and probably will never happen, but what would it take to get Kunznetsov to Detroit? He's exactly what Detroit needs when they transition into the post-Datsyuk era - which will probably occur in 2014/2015. And if he came over to NA next year he could learn under Datsyuk for one season.

In a trade like this basically nothing would be off-limits. I'd give up a lot for the kid - just want to see if anything is remotely possible.

Should probably change the prefix to "Value of:".

Wouldn't you want to change this to "Value of" instead of speculation?

IF the Red Wings decided to leverage Datsyuk's value before he departs for Russia... I would say Kuznetsov is the main piece coming back... would need a couple other things in there but he would be attractive to Detroit no doubt

I changed the prefix for you.
Speculation is usually used if there is a reason to believe that the player would be traded to a certain team.

Can't see why the Caps would entertain any trades for Kuznetsov. He'll be coming over when he's 22, and will hopefully be able to step into a top-6 role immediately and produce at a high level. AND his first 2 seasons at least will be relatively cost-controlled since he'll be on his ELC.

IMO Detroit would be better off tanking and getting a star via the draft.

No thanks, don't want to sell the farm for one kid. Granted that kid will be a stud but still.

I'd rather they either tank and draft high or try and trade up in the draft.

Better option would be to trade up in the draft. Detroit would love Lindholm.

What would it take though?

I'd rather they tank too but that isn't going to happen as long as Pasha and Z are here. And I'd love if they moved up to get Lindholm another blue-chip center prospect.

Just curious on what Kuznetsov would cost. I think he'd be perfect for the Wings.

Kuznetsov's a stud. I don't watch either team play so this is probably completely off but:
1st, 3rd, Smith, Abdelkader for Kuznetsov?

Its rare that two dimes and a nickle equal a quarter in trades like this.

I wouldn't do it honestly. Smith obviously isn't as good as Kuznetsov, but Smith + First might be.

I'd do it in a heartbeat as a Wings fan, so I think we'd have to add. Not sure what Washington would be looking for though.

It's incredibly difficult to gauge his value right now simply because we don't know when he's coming over. It could range anywhere from a 1st to just have his rights and hope you can convince him to cross the pond, or it could be a 1st, young NHL player, and B prospect.

That being said, I'd rather take the chance on him coming over.

Kuzya will come in 2014. 1st+Smith is a good start.

I would have to think it starts with one of Smith/Nyquist/Tatar, so for us it would have to Nyquist/Tatar++. I think they'd be wanting something like Nyquist+Ouellet/Sproul+Ferraro/Frk. Or Helm+Jurco/Jarnkrok, it would have to make sense to them and improve there team while also being an overpayment, it wouldn't make sense for the wings to give up the pieces to get him.

Here's the thing...until Kuznetsov actually comes over, his value is diminished. And Washington isn't going to trade him for 80 cents on the dollar.

Hard to gauge honestly. Prob Smith + Tatar + 1st or something. Kuznetsov is one of those players that I can see developing much better in Detroit than in Washington, especially if he gets a year to play with Datsyuk.

What's the deal with Detroit drafting Ferraros, Sheehans, etc. in the first rounds these days?
