I just don't think the NJD are going to let him go, they let Parise walk and I'm sure they will think twice about letting Clarkson do the same but if they do, he would be on my team in a heartbeat, if we could get him.

It would be pretty crazy and funny if all 4 eastern canadien teams make the playoffs. Canada and CBC would love it. But NBC would hate it lol. Rangers and flyers missing playoffs would suck for them lol

That's a great, original, bullet-proof idea.

I would sign Clarkson for around 4.5 per.

Do we really think we'd land a player like that with an offersheet?

Pietrangelo would be great, but...

Quote:
Blues GM Doug Armstrong on RFA defenseman Alex Pietrangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk, ”You sign bad contracts when you sign contracts out of fear. We have stable ownership. We’ll match any offer sheet…We will get them signed at contracts everyone is comfortable with.” Armstrong added that “we’ve yet to see an offer sheet work with top-end players.”

Signing Clarkson on a multi year deal for 4.5 or 5 million as some suggest would be absolutely terrible.

He's 28 and players of his style start aging really young. He has a career high 46 points in a season and is on pace for about 40 this year and that is with him seeing a lot of powerplay time.

If Nashville can match a 112M for Shea Weber...you can bet that St. Louis can match ~50M offer sheet EASILY.

I was listening to Jeff Blair today on the Fan, and he had Ed Olczyk on as a guest. Towards the end of the show, Ed was talking about the Wild figuring it out and Suter and Parise finally looking comfortable. He said their one glaring need is goal scoring.

Granted I'm not a fan of Kessel's but if Minnesota needed Phil to get over the hump, would you guys do something like:

Granlund, Dumba/Brodin and a first?

First, I doubt they do that, second, that makes our team worse right now.

I know it may be better in the future, but this sends a really bad message to the team that is playing their hearts out to win now.

However, if these guys reach there potential, this deal would be pretty sweet.

He's actually on pace for almost 52 points over an 82 game season.

I'd love to have him on the Leafs. Don't know how realistic that is though.

3 points in his last 16 games.

And I would just like to point out that apparently Grabovski is overpaid at 5.5m with his point totals of 48, 35(on pace for 48), 58 and 51 in his last 4 seasons. Clarkson should not get anywhere close to 5m with his one season where he scored 30 goals and got 46 points but sadly he probably will. I really hope we aren't the team to offer it.

The only way the Leafs sign Clarkson is if he's so deadest on playing for Toronto that he signs a discount contract around 3.5 - 4 million per year with some term. Nonis knows better than to pay 5 million for another winger. He's well aware that money like that should be spent on a top 6 centre or top pairing d-man.

Well, with Perry and Getzlaf locked in, this would actually increase Kessel's value should he be available.

I'd be willing to take a chance on Myers, so long as the price is right.

I was wondering about that while watching the game earlier. Would you be willing to trade Gardiner to a divisional rival if it meant you were getting Myers back?

Granlund + Brodin + 1st?

Yes, oh god yes. Brodin is looking like a future stud early on and Granlund has that star potential.

There isn't a ton of future packages I would trade Kessel for, but that is one I would really have a tough time declining.

Not Gardiner. Myers has a bad contract and is playing garbage hockey.

I would definitely think about it, if the price was lower though

I recently read that Myers has been shopped around but no GM is willing to take a chance on him because of his contract. I'm assuming the asking price for Myers is too much to give up for a kid that could really go either way, and if he never figures it out you're stuck with a miserable long term contract. I think GM's think much differently than HF posters lol.

Does Myers play the left or the right side though?
