With how much they didn't wanna talk about the injury and now hearing it's a lower body injury, I wonder what exactly it was?

I'm just not as doom and gloom about this team as others are. I still think we can win the Cup if Marty returns to pre-injury form, Zubs gets back, Lokti gets back, and we get some sort of continuity in our D-Corp.

We were playing great before injuries did us in. Let's see what happens when we get healthy again.

The Kings were out of the playoffs at one point last season. I get that it's easy to be pessimistic now but don't forget how well we played before injuries.

I don't think we'll be able to make a 'Jeff Carter' trade either.

Well there you have it. Pack it in folks, show is over!!!

Odds are highly on the side of us definitely not winning ****, but they were also high for us not to go anywhere last year or for the Kings to win...so who knows.

look, i commend your optimism but i dont have it for this team this year. this stretch without marty was a shot to the gut. im sure theyll make the playoffs, im not really worried about them missing it...yet. but the cup...i just dont see it.

The thing is the Kings roster had some much depth at every position, we don't.

No one thought the Kings had depth when they were 10th in the conference. Just saying, hindsight is 20/20.

I'm just saying let us wait and see. Playoffs are extremely unpredictable if we make it in. No team is mindblowingly strong in the East either.

Who knows maybe Marty just goes into super beast mode and steals his way to one more.

I am not counting on it though, but you never know.

When you have Marty Brodeur on your team, even an old Marty Brodeur, you always have a chance.

I think the confidence he brings to this team along with his ability to handle the puck (seriously, how many has Moose let in failing at that?) makes us a top tier team in the East. Marty alone does that.

I don't know about top tier, but we are better. Just helps that the East isn't that impressive. Pitt still lets into to many goals, deep down I still think the Habs are the Habs, and Boston just can't seem to go into the beast mode they are capable of. After that the quality of teams drops off a cliff.

Odds are a west team wins the cup.

No two situations are the same. Yes, the object is to make the playoffs and anybody who says they don't want to make the playoffs is insane.

Kings were considered one of the most disappointing teams in a while last year until they just squeaked into the 8th spot. Part of the problem was the coaching to be quite honest and it nearly cost Lombardi his job. He rebounded by making the right hire with Sutter though and the Carter trade has worked out quite well.

That team was and still is loaded with talent, although their defense has taken some hits and Quick has come back to Earth at least for this year, although I think part of his struggles are due to the offseason surgery he had and the recovery/conditioning associated with having to come back to a shortened season with a condensed schedule. We'll know more next season.

Don't even compare this Devils team to them. We have a bunch of 4th liners playing on our bottom two lines at the moment. We also have issues on defense despite having strength in numbers supposedly. And as much as I love Marty, he's no sure bet anymore either in terms of health or even performance (people forget how hot and cold he was in the Panther series last year, and the fact that he was quite honestly, really mediocre for a good chunk of the season and gave up tons of soft goals).

I think we are what we are, a team that is going to have to scrap for a playoff spot and may steal a few games. We aren't even anywhere near as good as last season's Devils team, nevermind comparing ourselves to the Kings.

I hate when people compare themselves to the previous year's underdog or longshot.

Last year the board consensus was that the season would be a victory if we won a playoff round You never know.

It is ironic we're being compared to the Kings when one of their scraps is our first-line center

He's had a 915-920 save percentage and 2.10 GAA since last February. That includes the playoffs, this season and post all star break last year, with an even strength save percentage of 930+

His rebound control was a big problem when he came back last season from injury. That's why he struggled more so than giving up particularly soft goals. His rebound control has looked good this year, but occasionally he'll kick out some bad ones. You never know though he could look really rusty tomorrow night.

We might just need Hart Trophy worthy Marty of Julien/first year of Sutter era with our 2 goals for in the last 15 games.

He was bad the first six games of the Panther series because he had like a week off between the end of the season and the first playoff game. He was very good otherwise, from late January on.

Yeah that's why I'm afraid now. He was also bad in the first 3 or 4 games of the Lightning series in 07 after sitting out for a week, and not starting the last game of the season.

Games 2,3,6 of the Panthers series he wasn't good. I remember him being fine in game 1, and he got the shutout in game 4. Was good in game 5 but had that puck playing snafu late in the game, and we got shutout anyway. He also had a bad game against the Flyers I remember. Game 3 but luckily Bryz was bad too.
