The quality of competition may be a bit higher, but the actual scheduling of games is far easier to handle than March.

3 back to backs and essentially playing every other day was never going to be an easy fight.

That last week in April is what stands out to me the most. A back to back, game every other day.. and against the Pens, Rags and Habs no less.

Sounds like Kovy will be back by then, anyway.

I was expecting to hear 2-4 months, thrilled he will back in a few weeks.

I have to admire you for your optimism, but I don't share it. This team could very easily be out of the playoff race in a couple weeks.

I also don't trust point blank what Lou says when it comes to injuries. I always take the longer time-frame. Especially when Lou comes out and gives the time-table before an MRI is done.

Honestly though, I think we'll be fine.

The East is actually ****ing miserable. We'll pull through

Well...Ottawa, Tampa (just fired their coach), and Florida suck. We need to take 6 points there. The Isles and Leafs suck. We see Boston in between. Need to take 4 points in that stretch. Toronto, Philly, and Florida after that. Should take 4 points there as well.

Kovy should be back by the last 4 games, which are murder. Rags, Habs, Pens, Rags.

Even if we lost all 4 games at the end (assuming we take 14 points in that poor stretch) we should sneak into the playoffs with 50 points.

Once retired Ilya's going to be the next Dos Equis effigy. But that won't a fiction this time. I can't believe it's only 2-4 weeks. Ilya's amazing.

I don't think excited would be the right word. Intrigued maybe. Kind of as a test of the talent we have in place. Mostly gives insight as to if we're a "one-man team" or not, even though we don't have much indication as of now that we are.

If its the type of an injury where it gets to a point that he can't do any more damage and its only a pain tolerance issue, then maybe. If he can still further injure/re-injure himself by playing too soon, then I wouldn't count on them letting him get back in too soon. All depends on the type of injury most likely.

at the very least, never hear Lou say the word 'certainly'
Good rhyme. Lou always had a way with words

That really mAde me laugh. Hypothetically if its only 2 weeks, that's only 6 games. (If i am looking correctly) 1 against Florida, 1 against Tampa, and 1 against the isles. Those 3 are still winnable with out him.

If it is that "short" of a return my guess is that it is shoulder related and not collarbone/clavicle/arm related

A popped out shoulder is usually a 2 week deal, so maybe it's a little more serious than that

Good news none the less on the timetable, could be far worse

Both teams are ahead of us. So, I'd caution on what that says about us.

does anyone else think we're dealing with a shoulder subluxation here?

That's what Callahan was out with earlier in year for Rangers

We're a completely different team without Marty. I would say that Kovy doesn't change the way we do things the way Marty does.

They'd have to be REALLY bad to be out of the playoff race in a couple of weeks. Especially since the next few games are the weakest part of the remaining schedule, though most are road games they're against teams we better beat for the most part.

Where did I say we were any good?

No one is going to run away with anything in the East, that hasn't already run away with it.

We have players on this team capable of scoring goals. If our defense and Marty come up big when they need to, this team can stay afloat. Good news is we just won our last two games, so the confidence is there.

I'm mostly sad that we don't get to watch Kovy play for the next couple of weeks. Hopefully he makes a quick, and full recovery.

We need CBGB at their best through this stretch for sure.

Those combos seem to have some chemistry.

It isn't like we can spread the scoring anyway, there isn't any left.

Quick, worked well with Sestito and Kosto, has some skill, not afraid to shoot.

I bet we claim Dvorak. But we probably won't be the only team though.

It's only one game, and 9:30 of ice time, so you can't really draw conclusions, but he did look good. Hopefully he can find his role here and fit in. We definitely need him to get back to scoring like he did a few seasons ago.
