As for Boston, the thought of that team adding Iginla to play on their freaking 3rd line makes me sick.
Or Horton goes to Calgary or he gets bumped down to third line duties while Iginla gets to play with Lucic and Krejci.

Lightning Release Guy Boucher of Coaching Duties

http://lightning.nhl.com/club/news.h...id=DL|TBL|home

The Tampa Bay Lightning have released Guy Boucher from his head coaching commitment, effective immediately, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced this morning. Yzerman also announced that Martin Raymond and Dan Lacroix will share coaching responsibilities for the game tonight against the Winnipeg Jets.

"Guy has poured his heart and soul into the Lightning organization for these past three years and we appreciate all the work he has done," said Yzerman upon making the announcement. "But ultimately I am not satisfied with the direction we are heading and I believe making a change today is in the best interest of our franchise."

Bring him back in the organization this summer. As for Yzerman he has done a crappy job as well. Well always easy to let the coach go

Bring this guy back asap. Yzerman made a terrible mistake.

Find room in Hamilton for him, scout, anything.

He followed the most common coaching cycle.

Successful season, mediocre season, playing horribly and get fired season.

their defense is terrible and the goaltending was a gamble (trading for Anders Lindback) that hasn't worked out!

Nono, what I meant is; how can a coach that was lauded for having such a strong defensive system end up with a team that plays so disorganized?

Right. Well, I'm pretty sure that's why Boucher was fired, wasn't it?

Lindback, Salo, Ohlund, Brewer, Carle were brought in to address defense/transition/goaltending issues. Conacher, Tyler Johnson were undrafted UFAs signed that are providing some depth up front. I don't see what Yzerman's been so abysmal with, frankly. Admittedly, I didn't like the Carle signing, but depth on D should be a solid point for the Lightning . . .

Boucher always had the big year then moved on so quick I always thought it was suspicious. In 3 years he led Drummondville to Memorial cup, great year in Hamilton getting to semi-finals, then getting to final 4 first year in Tampa. That is moving along too fast.

I think Yzerman's problem was that he listened to Julien Brisebois who convinced him to bring in all of Montreal's rejects. Boucher is still a good coach, he just has to lay off the trap a bit. If he doesn't get another offer to coach in the league maybe he'll accept to come back to Hamilton.

Steve Yzerman is a worst GM than Bob Gainey, seriously.

I had a feeling this would happen, I really want to see this guy as our coach one day. Last time he was ready we had just gone to the conference finals with first year coach Jacques Martin, now we are number 2 in the conference with first year coach Michel therrien. Someone's going to snap him up and when therrien hits his expiry date Boucher won't be available.

That's fine. I'd rather have Patty Roy as coach next time around. We're seeing how enjoyable a forechecking team is to watch under therrrien. I don't think I could go back to watching the trap after this.

Hopefully we give him a job somewhere in the org. but if someone else offers him a coaching position or even assistant he should take that instead for sure.

I have to say this though: Therrien is a better coach right now and probably will be for the foreseeable future. I'm really warming up to him.

Lately it just seemed like Guy Boucher's "system" was jost hoping that STEVEN STAMKOS filled up the opposing team's net with goals and squeaking by...

My point is:

Coach with a reputation for being a defensive system genius

-->

Team with a horribly defficient and disorganized defensive system

what happened?!?! A system isn't supposed to be dependant on skill; at least not when you have the reputation of being a genius in the domain!! Is Boucher just a bad "player's coach" and can't make his players buy into his system for crap?

Their goaltending has been terrible. They only have two top-4 defenseman too (Salo and Hedman).

If we keep playing like this, Therrien wont have an expiry date anytime soon.

It's a combination of that and a poorly assembled defense. Boucher is still in his debuts as a coach, he will get an other shot elsewhere and have learned greatly from this.

It seems to me that Boucher himself has an expiry date too.
