Really gotta feel bad for the guy, this is his third time on waivers.

I'd definitely take a shot on him. Especially with Kassian out we could use someone with some offensive talent. I do not want to see Pinizzotto, Weise, or Sestito in our top 9.

I don't know but his possession stats are decent and he's not costing his team defensively so far. If Kassian is on IR, we could claim him and give him a chance for a few games. Wouldn't really cost us anything.

The problem is that for a guy that's not a pure playmaking forward, he's had real trouble getting himself into scoring spots and generating shots, as well as chances.

Can Toronto even put Komisarek on waivers? He has a NMC.

I'd also be inclined to give him a shot. Free pickup for forward depth, and if he doesn't pan out, we can waive him. Seems like a risk-free scenario. Given his age and draft position, however, I can see another team taking a shot on him.

They need to solve the problem. Boychuck is a Nonis-esque solution attempt. No thanks.

Boychuk couldn't score with Crosby, couldn't score in a offensively starved team. He isn't being picked up.

Edmonton may also be on such a list...wouldn't that be a kick in the nuts for flames fans.

However, he is also a pretty loyal guy so does he sign on with a direct Calgary rival? I prefer to think "sure why not?" he was the guy that led the kudos and handshake for Linden after all. I also like to think he'd like to go somewhere where the pressures of leadership would be off of him so he can just play the last few years of his career.
What long run ? The guy is almost at retirement age...

Honestly I'd rather see Boychuck than a guy like Ebbet in the lineup. But I doubt he gets claimed, he's been waived a number of times.

boychuck won't clear, and we lost waiver priority, so we won't get him

The NHL isn't like fantasy hockey, teams don't "lose waiver priority."

Oh really? I thought he was 25.

The last few years of his career...I would have thought that was pretty obvious. He is still a 30+ goal scorer in the NHL. He isn't retiring in the next year.

What's the harm if Kassian is out for next game? Worst-case scenario you have a guy that's no worse than Andrew Ebbett and he gets waived again shortly after.

Yeah that would be my concern as well - aren't we close to or at 50 right now?

The issue as I see it is that the Canucks have a pretty good team, but they're wasting a lot of surplus value with the Luongo/Ballard situations. They're also weak on their 2nd line now, and the acquisition cost to shore up their 2nd line is likely to have Gillis balking at paying through the nose.

Dan Boyle would be such an incredibly fit on the Canucks right side, too, but they simply can't afford to pay him next year without moving a Top 4. I'd move Bieksa in a second to replace him with Boyle, but I'm not sure that's a feasible move by Gillis. It's too bad the cap is going down, really.

Not going to happen with AV as coach.

It wouldn't happen for a lot of reasons. Bieksa is well liked on the team, is paid a reasonable rate over his contract, and is younger. I'm just saying in a vaccum, a Garrison/Boyle pairing would make my day.
