So basically another S.Paulsonn,We have got to many of these types allready. We need more snipers on this team.We cant keep winning 2-1 games with these dmen we have.We need more goals for,the twins cant do it all the time.

I know what you mean. But at least Campbell's won a Cup.

As Gillis says, some of you guys worry about the cap too much

I do think more panther trades would be over the top, but what contenders do you feel we could trade with? usually it is a good team trying to get better and a bad team trying to change, we could do need for need but who is realistic...

They are all teams that are out of a playoff spot, which was kind of my point, hard to trade with a team that is not a "losing organization".

Agreed. It's shocking how people quickly forget the lack of scoring from the last two playoffs. Do we really need another playoff elimination due to no offense for some people to get it?

I dont think you know who stoll is. Both his playoff goals last season were GWG with one being a series winning goal.

He's a solid player.

But ya, you're right. Let's get a pillow soft guy like Hemsky. So we can have a repeat of EVERY year

I think sometime next week the line between team in the playoff contention and non-playoff will be slowly drift apart......GM will decide if they are buyer or seller

If you don't think there's a massive difference between pre-eye-injury Malhotra and Pahlsson at his current age and speed, something's wrong.

Goc is an absolutely excellent 3rd line center. He'd be a wonderful addition to the team, and would really take the pressure off of guys like Burrows and Kesler.

Scoring is important too, but I'd still much rather have Goc than Booth, for example. This team needs to be harder to play against just as badly as it needs more scoring.

People are talking about him like he's completely anemic offensively as well. He's been on pace for 34, 39, 39, and now 36 points the last few years. For my money, he's a better offensive player than pre-eye-injury Malhotra was (while being a bit behind defensively). Dynamic scoring is nice, but if this team were full of Hansen's, Raymond's, Higgins' types, it'd be fine, too. Goc is absolutely able to contribute as much as those guys do.

Lack of scoring has always killed us. I think a PMD with some vision is the best answer to our annual playoff scoring woes. If not a new coach (which I believe is the major issue).

The really stupid thing is that they wasted so many games playing him on the 4th line and sending him down instead of finding out if he can be that reliable, two-way center they need going into the playoffs. How are you supposed to know how badly you need a 3C then? Even though I'd like another lefty center for insurance anyway.

Exactly. I would rather we pluck Halpern off waivers and either look for a long term fit (Grabovski at reduced salary, Couturier/Schneider deal) if they are available and just allow this season to play out. I am not necessarily against rentals, but only if we are not paying a huge ransom or said rentals are exceptional - Riberio-esque this season. Granted, that it partly because I believe he would stick around. We're hated, he's hated. Ribs would feel right at home.

Philly fans want Weber + 2nd from the Habs. So an equivalent might be Rodin + 2nd or thereabouts.

He probably does to be honest, but him being a permanent scratch this season hasn't helped. If Philly wants a more ready prospect, we really do not have anything to offer.

Cory Schneider ($4.000m)
Eddie Lack ($0.750m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $63,963,000; BONUSES: $0
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $337,000

Adding a 4m per player is possible. The key is getting Higgins to re-sign at his current rate. Lapierre less so. Odds are against it, but that's what they need. Raymond obviously walks in such a case.

Edit: Barker and Vandermeer are placeholders more than anything.

Isn't Grabovski like 5.5? Plus he scares me. Leafs fans are so willing to give him up, when every player on their team is overvalued. Plus, he's their 3rd line center. The Leafs third line center. I understand he's a good player. I've watched him play a lot, but this seems fishy to me. I don't want him anymore.

Yeah, there's no way the Leafs would keep part of Grabo's cap hit considering how long his contract is.

Anywho, I wouldn't be opposed to acquiring Grabovski. He just isn't the same player under Carlyle's system, he needs a change of scenery.
He's a left handed center who can win 50%+ of faceoffs and put up 50+ points in a 2nd line role.

Yes, his cap hit is bad, but the length of Luongo's contract isn't great either.

This 100%, especially if Kesler is healthy come playoff time, should they make it. Matt Hendricks would fit too, maybe more so if he doesn't cost much since he's a lot younger, provides the grit factor, and is a UFA at year's end.
