Inspiring read if you have some time on your hands because it is quite lengthy. Worth every minute though.

Wow I had no idea; good for him. I was all over the "Clune sucks" bandwagon early on, but as far as I am concerned, he has earned his current roster spot. I think he is as energetic as Tootoo was and seems to actually have a slightly higher offensive ceiling.

Good read. I don't typically read Burnside pieces all the way through, but this one was very well done.

Yeah I got chills from reading that. I'm definitely pulling for Clune to be successful here. He has the attitude to become a fan favorite type.

Totally agree. After a rough start he has made it very easy to like him as a player. As for Tootoo, you are correct there as well. Clune is the player that Tootoo should have been, maybe Toots got comfortable in his role here, idk, but right now it looks like a genius move to pass on Tootoo and bring in Clune.

Had no clue, great article. Wish Clune only success on and off the ice from here on out.

And give him another penalty shot........

Wow he straight up called Dallas out. Also it's funny he's starting to play like Sean Avery; agitates, fights, scores goals. After listening to this interview he even sounds like him. My favorite quote from the interview: "People are surprised when they find out I have a brain"

When asked about the two teams ready to go at it after the first game, Clune came back with this

Actually, the Stars are NOT ready to tangle because Trotzy started me and Yip but they started three of their softer players.

In the article, it mentions that in junior hockey he patterned his game after Sean Avery. I still see it, but thankfully not over the top like Avery and I've yet to see him cower when challenged to fight after he pushes the envelope.

Had some clues, but didn't know about Clune's past. Very happy for him that he's feeling comfortable in his new role enough that he was willing to share the story with Burnside. He's been a pleasant surprise and after all he's overcome, the sky is Clune's ceiling IMO...

I haven't read the article just yet but I wanted to say this beforehand: He has been a real pleasant surprise. Even when not scoring goals, his line is always generating chances and he has 100% hustle and effort out there. He has also proven he has some skill that he can put to use besides fighting. I think a long term 4th line of clune/gaustad/latta-yip is going to be fun.

edit: and now that I've read it, you can't help but pull for him.

I've been a Clune guy since we picked him up on waivers and this story only grows my liking for the guy. Great piece to have on our squad. He scored 32g with Barrie!! He's def. got some offensive talent. 3g, 2a and he's our "enforcer" DICKIE CLUNE!!!

Clune certainly doesn't KO anyone, probably doesn't even win any fights. But he gets some draws and has actually been better recently. The first 3 games of the season he did nothing but pick an arbitrary fight, lose handily and sit the rest of the game. Now he's contributing offensively, pestering the other team and providing entertaining fights.

I'd say Hordichuk had the most actual fight skills. If you took all of the fighters we've had and throw them into a boxing ring, vs their own weight class, Hordichuk would have the best chance.

Great read, and sounds like Nashville is just the place for him to be. Wasn't on the hate Clune bandwagon earlier but also wasn't sure if he would be a good fit here, but I love his game and love his hustle.
