So far nothing comes close to that in this thread
a #2 C, 1 elite/very good winger, and 1 good defenseman probably gives them a better chance to win the cup this year than a healthy Malkin....

I don't think that's the right question to ask as Pittsburgh has an abundance of young Dmen coming up that they could trade Malkin right now to give themselves a better chance at the cup but that Dman could be pushed out (or down) the line-up in a few years with potentially Pouliot, Despres, Matta, Dumoulin, Harrington, and Morrow pushing for spots in a couple of years...

You should never think short-sighted like "gives them a better shot at winning the cup this year" because anything can go wrong this year and they could be screwed the next year(s)...

I realize this is all in "fun," but in reality Malkin is un-tradeable. A GM would have to gut his team in order to acquire Malkin and that would leave them in a worse position than they started, not to mention the whole salary cap issue for the Pens requires quality over quantity. I have yet to see a proposal in this thread that would even motivate Shero to pick up his phone, tbh.

This.

No team would give up what it would cost to acquire Malkin, and Malkin would not be traded for anything but a ridiculous overpayment. Not to mention the salary cap impications on the Penguins part. Chicago for example, Kane, Keith, Saad,Teravainen, 2013 1st, 2014 1st. Ridiculous overpayment? Sure is. Chicago would balk, and it would never happen. Not to mention the salary cap implications for the Pens. Sorry Hawks fans, I needed to use your squad to make a point. I am sane enough to know this would never happen.

I would like to see Malkin go to a team out west - I hate seeing the two best players in the NHL on one team. I mean if Kobe and Lebron played on the same team in the NBA it would be just weird... and it would be fun seeing them actually battle against each other. If the Pens got two young top players they consider it. It would be good for the NHL. And then we can see if Crosby can win a cup with out Malkin in all seriousness he likely doesn't though.

it would take more than that. it would easily take more than any team would realistically pay.

yes, I mean as far as i'm concerned that's a good trade for the NHL imo. Although the pens would likely want a centre coming back.

it would have to include AT LEAST Eberle and RNH. at that point, the Oilers should hang up.

it will take an overpayment of mammoth proportions to pry Malkin from the Pens.

I'm going to guess you'd hate it a lot less if that team was The Leafs.

Team one: I offer you these four spare parts for the best player in the world.
Team two: You did not even offer one of your five best players.
Team one: Well he will need a team to play around when he comes here.

Now go away while I list my team with Malkin centering the top line and do a couple of things.

Pretty much 3 or 4 pieces of whatever Pitts wanted.

Two currently underperforming/overpaid stars and a first for the reigning Ross/Hart winner, the arguable current frontrunner for the Norris, and a solid D prospect. Yikes.

Edited because I missed the Johansson/Perreault part. Still, there aren't enough ways to say no.

From the Jets I'd think fair value is probably

Wheeler
One of Burmistrov or Scheifele
Trouba
2013 first.

Two A prospects that will be NHL regulars within 1 or 2 years, a top line winger and a first is where I see his value.

Malkin can't be traded. He's too important to Sean Couturier's value.

I still think my Kesler + Edler suggestion is a better starting point than the futures-centered packages, but it would only be plausibly realistic with the Kesler of a few years ago.

It is in the sense that Pittsburgh is in win now mode and therefore has no need for futures - especially D prospects which they already have coming out of their ears - coming back for the Hart/Ross winner. Pitt still doesn't even consider the package you offered but at least you took that bit into account.
