If it's me, I don't do it.
You've got the return from Morrow, and almost certainly Roy at the least.
You got Jaromir Jagr to play on the Stars.
Now he wants to stay.
Resigning him at this point would be huge, IMO.
Nevermind him just being on the team and there and what that could do to for helping attract free agents to Dallas, but Jagr does have a bit of a "money chaser" label around the league (I can't say if it is there on the professional level), and getting him to resign in Dallas with the state that the team is in and his point in his career would look reeealy good on the Stars organization.
Just a thought.
He turned down 2 seconds. That's good because I think there's a better deal out there. Trading Jagr probably means a better return than that. I would expect at least one prospect a year or closer away plus a pick. That's a good return.
I'd love to nab one of Columbus' 1sts for Roy though. That's a great return for him.
Love that Jagr wants to stay. We're trading you big guy but we'll be there with the same money next season. Hell I'd even be willing to give him an NTC or something similar next year if I get to move you this year and have you back. We need him to mentor the kids but we need what he can return even more.
I am on the fence with Jagr. Great example for the young players/prospects. Great that he wants to stay. He would fetch much better than 2 2nds I would think. I think I would rather he stay. I also do not think he will come back in to us in UFA if we trade him.
I think we will miss Roy, but you cant pay him 6+ a year for a 5+ year deal. Hopefully a good young Center or a known good 1st is part of the return. (perhaps even another ball in the lottery??!) What is the 3rd 1st that CLB owns? (LAK, CLB, ???). can't remember. screw research.
If Kulikov is seriously available then sell on Robi and go get Kulikov.
Joe has the right mindset about Jagr. As they've said, If they're not blown away (say Spooner+Koko+pick, THAT blown away) moving him is a bad idea for 3 reasons- 1)no suitable replacement in the system for awhile 2) he helps attendance, and that certainly is a factor 3) what's wrong with having a vet guy like him for another year?
Disappointed about Roy talks stopping. He couldve been a key piece here, its a shame that tonight will be his last game in our sweater. Need to get what we can for him though.
I would, personally. I like Ritchie, but we can afford to trade him, and Burmistrov is at worst a 3rd line center. Klingberg is simply in there so we have both of them, and I figured they could use Glennie more than we could. I'd like to acquire Postma too, but don't see that happening in this deal.
