Is Ryan Johansen going to be a problem???

http://www.jacketscannon.com/2013/5/...o-be-a-problem

Not sure if this has been addressed, but this article brings me back to the interview Derek Dorsett did right after he got hurt. He was up in the TV booth with Rimmer and Bill Davidge. Johansen had just been brought back up after a short stint in Springfield and they asked DD about him. To ME, DD looked like he wanted to say something, but chose not to. If I remember right, he only uttered his name, then laughed. Then there was a long awkward silence. To ME, he looked like he wanted to say something negative about him.

Anybody else remember this??? Does anybody have that video of him doing that??

Is he going to be a problem? No. Davidson won't allow him to be. He will be traded if Davidson thought that.

Not at all. One two week stretch doesn't define careers

Dorsett got traded, Johansen not so much.... I see Joey being a Jacket for as long as any top CBJ player...

Johansen got sent down because of attitude. I almost assure you. He got brought up before they wanted to, because of injuries. The coaching staff almost NEVER gives him compliments even if he has an outstanding game. To me, this is supreme management for a head case.

Yes Robert, I did hear DD got traded, but while he was here, he was a leader on this team.

I agree that Davidson will not let a cancer on this team. He will be gone if his attitude is trash.

Um, he had like 2 assists in 10 games. He wasn't producing and wasn't going as hard as he did.

We just saw Johansen dominate the Sedins. Matt Wagner should be embarassed and I'm ashamed he has a public voice as a CBJ fan.

speaking of johansen, i didnt watch the ahl playoffs but the #s arent promising

5 games, 1 assist, -8

really hope he starts becoming who we thought he would be offensively soon, idk if id be happy with using a 4th overall pick on a shutdown center who wins faceoffs

Why would you judge him off the AHL playoffs when we just saw him be an extremely effective defensive and offensive player in the NHL?

and at AGE 20

I fear his latest stint in Springfield during the playoffs revealed something about his character. I wouldn't be surprised to see him traded this summer. Sell high.

Considering the CBJ's past lack of success in the draft, especially in the top 2 rounds, I think I'd be OK with that.

are you joking?! he's 20 years old. Who cares about a 5 game Springfield stint when he was GREAT for us down the stretch? between this and the "trade Ryan Murray" talk this board is really starting to get embarassing

Until something gets reported that is factual, speculate away. I am hoping he was playing through an injury.

I'll speculate. Heck,if all we had to talk about were things we actually knew to be factual there wouldn't be much discussion.

I agree with Lee that its a possibility. The guy seems to have parts of Nash and parts of Filly. And they aren't all the good parts. Not sure he is ever going to be worthy of a #4 pick. The flashes have been few and far between.

If deal existed to trade Joey+LA's 1st round pick to Colorado for the #1 overall, I'd do it and take MacKinnon.

I agree with this post, and I'll elaborate a little:

Speaking only from my experience in dealing with Ryan Johansen in the Western Hockey League, he was the complete opposite of a problem as far as work ethic and character. He was a very key part of a turnaround that saw the Winterhawks go from the team that finished dead last in the league - three years in a row - to a team that has played in the WHL Finals in each of the last three years. While he wasn't a part of the last two teams, he was a big part of the culture change in Portland, as well as being a key contributor in all three zones.

So I ask you all this: Had he been a problem in the locker room or on the ice, does this team have the success down the stretch that it did? Does he match up against the top line forwards from some of the best teams in the league, and do a great job? I have some serious doubts ... the only thing I can surmise is that he was let down from missing the playoffs, and felt no reason to compete in the AHL. There's also the possibility that he played injured. Or, it could just be that the Syracuse Crunch - made up largely of the team that won the AHL last year - was just the better team.

I see the concerns, and I understand them. What I don't get is the sudden pressing of the panic button. His history speaks to the contrary ... take it from a guy who actually knows.

I don't know what this means or who should have said Zherdev or whateven the hell he has to do with the thread, the general tenor of which my original comment addressed.

Allow me to add:

And to Mr. Wagner:

I think his ice time and defensive matchups during the last half of the season is about as high a compliment as you can give a 20 year old.

He should have compared Joey to Zherdev, not Nash and Filatov for dramatic effect. Save your facepalms for the people who want to ship out Ryan Murray without even seein him play a game.

Not sure if this has been addressed, but ....

Anybody else remember ?
I remember when you, PubOFH, were "Pubs Lebowski" and then turned against Fedorov, so changed your name to Pub Official Fedorov Hater.

So is it going to be PubOJH now?

But it's somehow not as ludicrous to pass judgment based on five games, in the AHL, specificlly chosen to forward a particular narrative?

You miss a day and you miss.... Absolutely nothing. Good bye cruel thread.

I will not continue speculation all summer on this guy. He's either on the team or he isn't. He either plays well or he doesn't. He is either a team player or he's gone.

Next useless speculation?
