Moore and Brassard. Brassard didn't get it out, and Moore got outmuscled in front.

Boy the last 10 minutes of regulation and the overtime of that Rags-Caps game was unbelievable. Glad to see Rick and the Rangers lose a heart breaker in OT.

Yeah I just saw that Brassard softie, agree. Too bad for those two.

On the bright side, Nash didn't get a shot on goal through 60!

Rangers fans alleging he's hurt, and not happy about his Rick Nash spin move

He definitely seems hurt to me. He's become a whipping boy around here for the Jackets' first decade of ineptitude, but I don't buy that Nash is shrinking away because he is somehow overwhelmed by playoff-style hockey. Something's wrong with the motor there - legs don't look like they are at 100%.

Now the spin move, that's another issue. That is pretty ridiculous.

The reverse looks ridiculous, and I'm not surprised Ranger-fans are harping on it with Nash in a slump, but it works for Nash. He can pull out of it either direction or dish with his back to the net. Maybe I haven't seen enough to be peeved though.

Strangely he will occasionally use the second one. Doesn't drive me nuts, just kind of Really? you would think a broadcaster of his standing would check with a teams PR team for pronunciations.

It is what it is....

I am a big fan of Rick Nash, and have defended him at every turn. I even failed to muster the requisite anger over his trade demand.

I say all that as a preface to this -- we've said similar ("must be hurt") for years, as a way to explain away his penchant for disappearing at times. I don't believe the playoffs or the attendant pressure/big stage/NYR have anything to do with it. That's just Nasher.

In other news, the LA Kings and Jeff Carter in particular can go to hell.

But is there anything other than his lack of production that can be offered as evidence? Even playing hurt, not registering a shot on goal for 3 periods? As a forward? I thought he'd be a beast in the playoffs, I told a Rangers fan acquaintance of mine that, and he doesn't have a goal. I bring that up because his lack of production is remarkable, and has performed well on big stages in the past. But I hesitate to jump from a lack of production to "he must be hurt".

The spin move always starts so promising- it enables him to penetrate pretty deep and to use his size to protect the puck. But then it kind of fizzles out, almost like a pretty toe drag that gets broken up. I'm not sure I've ever seen it lead to a goal. Is it still a work in progress that he'll develop into a devastating move like a hook shot?

When has he ever been anything but a golden boy on TSN or any national NHL game? The first year he was on the Olympic team... maybe.

Being called out by the media and being called soft will take some time to deal with. His family hears it for the first time. He has to live up to 7.8 million dollars now. Brad Richards is the luckiest guy because he's been terrible, but everyone will talk about Nash.

He likely has some sort of groin issue, but who isn't banged up right now? That coupled with his "not too high on the highs, too low on the lows" personality will lose fans if he doesn't start taking the body or moving toward the net.

Hope he can come out of it. Watching these last few games and reflecting on our season, it's clear what we were missing.

Yep, Doc calls him BRASS-ard even though everyone else on the broadcasts and other media go with Bra-SARD. I hope he figures it out... drives me NUTS.

Isles are giving the Pens all they can handle. Caps beat Rangers and Isles, Sens & Leafs advance. Wouldn't that be something?

Pens wins in OT. Isle competitiveness off the charts. Save for the goaltending and the elite skill of Tavares, was like watching... I can't say it.

If the Pens don't play better against Ottawa, they may find themselves swept out ... the pesky Sens are wholly underrated, and can match the Penguins in many areas that the Isles couldn't ... most notably, in goal.

So, you're saying that Jeff and the Kings will be playing in Detroit next round? (Sorry, city of Detroit but that was too easy to pass up and I want to get one last dig in before we compete in different divisions.)

And Spezza is nearing return, which I guess depending on how you view him can be good or bad.

Practiced with the team this morning ... Garrioch knows about as much about the situation as I do, and I live 3,000 miles away!

They can say what they want, but he wouldn't practice without a chance that he will be back. This is the same team that, only a few weeks ago, was still saying that both Jared Cowen and Erik Karlsson were out for the year. Teams are known to hide facts about injuries - especially at this time of year.

He won't be back for game 1, maybe not even in this series ... but the fact that he's on the ice says that he's closer than they are admitting.
