Perry/Getzlaf are the type of franchise players you can give up great young guys for, I don't think Ryan is that type. If we could get him for some B prospects (Noesen/Puempel/Claesson/etc) plus picks and a decent roster player I'd be alllll over that, but then so would every other GM.

Don't get me wrong, I think Ryan's a beauty and would LOVE to have him, just not at the cost that I think it will take.
Who are you, and how do you "get it"?

What are Anaheim's needs? I'd still give up Ennis+

Ryan won't be moved. The one who will be moved is Hiller, but in the offseason.

We don't need to trade anyone.

Perry re-signed. The ducklings are awesome. Time to pester another team.

You're right, but I don't think the Ducks will be able to re-sign him for what he's worth without destroying their team's depth.

That's fine, but it's also something that's about 2 1/3 seasons away from being a problem. Who even knows what the cap situation will be by then, or what we'll even need?

Its going to take a large overpayment. 2 more years after this one on a pretty decent deal. Not much interest from our side to move him.

Im not trying to be high on our prospects but the players they want to have the potential to hit his career numbers. I am not saying they are guaranteed to but we have all seen the highlights. Also, they are 100% making the playoffs and not going to sell.

Personally, im for staying the course and building from the draft out.

guys who score 30 goals a year and are able to play physical like Ryan does, do not grow on trees

How is Ryan worth a 1st round pick on top of Gagner? Let's not forget that Gagner is also 2 years younger than him.
Because this is the only season that means anything?

Not to mention Bobby's 4 straight 30 goal seasons right? Get out of here.

Why not just try to sign a basically as good/better player in Semin?

Mika Zibanejad - 23GP 6G 10Pts

for

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - 27GP 2G 11Pts

That looks like a pretty fair deal to me using your logic

Yeah agreed. More on this.

2011/12

Ryan, 31 goals, 26 assists.

Gagner, 18 goals, 29 assists.

2010/11

Ryan, 34 goals, 37 assists.

Gagner, 15 goals, 27 assists.

2009/10

Ryan, 35 goals, 29 assists

Gagner, 15 goals, 26 assists.

2008/9

Ryan, 31 goals, 26 assists

Gagner, 16 goals, 25 assists

Oh, I'm sorry, I'm not helping your argument am I? While were at it and only looking at around 28 games like you are, I think Kunitz is the third best player in the league.

The thing with the Ducks, is that we've got one of the best prospect pools in the league. We don't necessarily have to trade. Guys like Rakell, Holland, Etem, Palmieri, Karlsson, Sarault, Kerdiles, Lindholm, Vatanen, etc. are going to be able to fill holes for CHEAP. So theoretically we can keep all three of RPG

Not interested in giving up what it would take to acquire him.

Yeah, Ryan is a fantastic player, but it's going to cost an arm and a leg to get him (and rightly so)

Sens are a bad fit, as I can't see them giving up the roster players necessary to make this work. If the Ducks decided to trade him for picks and prospects (for whatever reason) then Ottawa could surely compete with any offer.

Pieces I'd offer in a package would be Cody Ceci, Stefan Noesen, Matt Puempel, Mark Stone, Shane Prince, Mark Borowiecki, Zack Smith, Colin Greening, Ben Bishop, 1st Round Draft Pick, ect (But doubt that would be the best type of offer that Anaheim would receive).

The Ducks prospect pool is right behind the Sens. We have no need for prospects/picks in exchange for Bobby.
