The Blackhawks and Canucks HATE! each other

Now that rivalry has spawned down into the AHL.

From the Icehogs Wolves game last night.

You gotta wonder if Jeremy Morin will get suspended for that. Thanks for sharing the video!

Yeah that is a suspension, no doubt about it but I will say I love how he came to the defense of his team mate!

Weird. Morin's got a fire up his ass, so at least there's that.

Too bad the rivalry just got killed off by realignment. Face them 2 fewer times per year and have lower chance of meeting in playoffs, as well. NHLfail.

It's so weird that Vancouver has a farm team in Chicago. I know they used to be popular when the Hawks weren't good but how do Chicagoans actually support the Wolves these days?

I'm going to guess a lot of people that go to Wolves game have no idea what NHL team the are affiliated with. They just want to take their family to affordable, high level hockey games.

- They've been one of the best teams in their league since long before the Canucks came along
- People stay loyal to their team
- They're cheaper

And to a much lesser extent:
- Some Wolves fans will never again support the Blackhawks due to Wirtz bumbling
- Those same people probably enjoy cheering for a Blackhawks rival

Yeah, I noticed a lot more Wolves fans when the Hawks sucked.

Loved it, thought that hit on Smith was a bit cheap even if it was the Hogs fault that the door was slightly open, he drove him into the boards from behind.

That said, Morin made a really stupid decision, his team needs him for the final playoff push, now he will probably be suspended.

Was a good tussle, but probably going to see heir fair share of players suspended on both sides, though I'm expecting more Hogs to lose ice time than Wolves.

Also, I'm a Hawks fan that also likes he Wolves. Big whoop. If anything, it's great that they're affiliated with the Nucks, as that organization has always put more emphasis on trying to win than helping develop their affiliate's players, so the Wolves might very well be holding back a few Nucks prospects a little bit. Win-win for Chicago hockey fans.

Winner of the cement head award goes to #32 on Wolves throwing left around the partition.

Lalonde is more disturbing to me than Morin in that fight.
What a mess. When do they can Dent?

Just glad Smith got pulled out of there quickly

I always cringe when there are skates flying around while there's a guy laid out in the area.

Just very, very poor decision-making by Morin there. Highly doubt the Hawks organization likes seeing that, particularly from a guy who should be working his ass off to try to make a good impression in order to get a shot with the NHL team.

Nucks killed this rivalry because their window for winning anything soon is over.

Do AHL suspensions also carry over to the NHL? Could Morin play on the Hawks if they called him up while he was suspended in the AHL?

Yes. I've noticed Wolves fans are a totally different crowd.

Is it correct that despite being on Hawks bench fighting that Vandermeer was not given any penalties?

That cant be correct

uhh.... I don't know what you guys are talking about. The number of diehard Wolves fans that hate the Hawks is very low nowadays. I've been to plenty of games and have seen as many red Indian Head sweaters as I see burgundy Wolves sweaters.

Most folks at the games like both teams. Wolves are just convenient and cheaper for people that live in the north and northwest (like me), even with their Nucks affiliation.

And, as I said above, the Wolves have always been a win first, second, and third, develop fourth type of organization, so in the long-run it's actually probably a good thing as they're going to focus on winning the Calder Cup above developing Nucks prospects.

Just one game suspension for Morin, Brookbank and Lalonde. Was expecting much worse.

Quote:
The American Hockey League today announced that Rockford IceHogs forwards Jeremy Morin and Wade Brookbank and defenseman Shawn Lalonde have been suspended for one (1) game each and Chicago Wolves defenseman Adam Polasek has been suspended for three (3) games as a result of their actions during an incident in a game between the teams at Chicago on Mar. 17.

Wolves/ Hogs' games have always had a mean streak to them. It pre dates the Vancouver/ Wolves affiliation.
