I've heard the opposite about Laganiere's wheels.

Seen a couple articles/people say he's not very fleet footed.

He was at our prospect camp. Does anyone remember how he looked?

The kid from Western Michigan will probably sign in Detroit. Detroit needs D and he's familiar in Michigan.

The kid from Yale... If he's been to our prospects camp, we might have a shot.

He also went to the Penguins camp that summer, and Vancouver's camp in 2011.

As much as he loves Detroit - he's probably going to want to see some NHL time before that 2-year(?) ELC runs out. And it's unlikely with an organization like Detroit.

Even a prospect as highly-touted as Brendan Smith took 2 years coming out of college to get his cup of tea with DRW.

Jakub Kindl was drafted back in 2005 and took 4-5 years to get his shot in their top-6.

DeKeyser is going to have to wait much longer - till he adds about 20lb to that frame and shows he can skate the way he does - before joining the DRW top-6.

They, unlike us, would rather sign UFA defensemen to fill out the roster rather than play a guy that's not ready in a top-4/6 role.

He doesn't need to add 20lbs.

He's listed at 6'3'' 198lbs.

Look at our D: Petry = 6'3'' 200lbs, Potter = 6'3'' 206lbs, Smid - 6'3'' 207lbs.

He'll be fine at his size.

I think Schultz had proved enough in the AHL.

back to Iggy

got message from a buddy who works in and around the Kings suggesting they will be going all in for Iggy in the next few days--he suggest that either Dustin Brown or mike Richards will be the center point of the trade with either Vyacheslav Voynov or another D-man being tossed in with a pick.

Buddy does not work for the kings--but in the arena where they play

Sounds like from a few different places--the flames and Iggy have agreed his future is elsewhere

He had, he ripped that league to shreds.

He's just not ready for heavy even-strength play in the NHL - that much was clear 15 games into the season. He's yet to show an effective transition and break-out game yet at even strength (and he's supposed to be an offensive defenseman) - and he's looked lost and at times downright bad in his own end.

There's a few reasons for this:

1) He's playing in a top-4, and at times, a top-pairing, role thus far this season. This is an enormous amount of responsibility for any rookie - but given that his even-strength play is at a bottom-pairing level right now, it makes it more than difficult - it makes it impossible.

2) His partner - Nick Schultz - is a bottom pairing defenseman. It's hard to introduce a player into a top-4 role when he doesn't have an established top-4 partner. With a partner like N.Schultz - that pairing could probably barely break even in a bottom-pairing role.

3) We lack depth in our top-4. We have 2 top-4 defensemen in our line-up - Smid/Petry - and both are showing weakness having to anchor that top-pairing role as well. This team is full of defensemen playing out of their capacity - and for some reason this never gets highlighted as a reason for our struggles.

That is an embarrassing overpayment by the Kings - they lose that trade the second Richards/Brown enter the conversation. Even Voynov is a more valuable asset than Iginla.

If I were them I'd just look to acquire another depth player from another team. There are plenty of scorers in this league - you don't need to toss away top-line talent + top-4 defensemen to acquire a guy in the twilight of his career.

I'm calling BS on that deal, or "source".

hahahaha. I'm sure he did.

Sorry if I sound douchy but come on.. That offer would be ridiculous.

They wouldn't give up Voynov alone for him.. he's got 19 points in 31 games this year and playing fantastic.

"Ever since it has been evident that the Calgary Flames might trade Jarome Iginla, the focus has been on three teams mainly: the Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Kings.

It's going to stay that way with the Chicago Blackhawks added into the mix.

Iginla has a no-trade clause and would have to consent to any potential trade the Flames might make. With the ball rolling on a deal according to multiple reports, including the Hot Stove on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada, Iginla has reportedly given the Flames an approved list of trade partners consisting of the above four teams."

Ya I'm sure if that deal was available, it would already be done, and Feaster would be breaking out the champagne

TOTAL B.S.

There is no way a potential UFA can fetch that return. and OLD UFA a that.

They would be lucky to get goalie Jonathen Bernier

that is an understatement... he STILL leads AHL dmen in scoring by 8 freaking points, lol, and is 18th in overall scoring... justin schultz was well pass the point of needing to play in the AHL... sure he has hit the wall in the NHL it seems, but we all expected that... schultz will be just fine moving forward

I wonder if rental players will be worth slightly less this year because they'll only be playing a smaller number of games for their new team before playoffs?

Source say the Pens and Stars have a trade in place for Brendan Morrow. However, he has yet to waive no trade clause.

Apparently it's Brendan Morrow for D-man Joe Morrow(who I really like).

Good deal for the Stars if true.

All we read about Schultz is that he played near the wings so could go to detroit, his buddy Gardiner will lure him to Toronto, or his parents and family will attract him to a good team in BC.

Fact is we have no idea hat these kids will decide until it happens, but I'm glad Edmonton is in the mix for a lot of sought after guys lately.
