It's funny, the Ducks are vastly better than the Oilers, yet I still think Gagner is a better fit at 2C in Anaheim than he is in Edmonton.

Anaheim has the size in their lineup that the Oilers wish they had.

Unfortunately, i just don't see Gagner dealt unless we can really improve somewhere else, and I have my doubts teams will like the asking price.

I wonder if the Flyers could / would retain enough of Briere's cap-hit to make it workable.

He seems like a fit there, and maybe we could convince him that his kids would love to come visit him and Disneyland.

I don't know why they want to get rid of him so bad. He's a 2C, and is their best C right now with RNH not doing quite as good as last year. He's still young too

That is a great building block and there really is no incentive for Edmonton to trade that player unless what is coming back is something they need (ie. big mobile smart LH D).
Sure, but where's Pronger from his pre eye problem days?

Okay so there is no point in dealing Ryan unless its an overpayment and helps you for the playoffs. So let me try to meet both those criteria.

To Anaheim

Ennis
Pominville

To Buffalo

Bobby Ryan
Salary dump??

If I'm not mistaken Buffalo could eat some of the traded players salary to make this feasible for Anaheim.

I wouldnt call that a big overpayment, asking price on Ryan last year was couts+schenn to give you an idea of the value Murray would want.

Understandable but I think purely value wise that is a win for the Ducks.

That's fine, but that isn't what our team is trying to accomplish. We're looking for a short term solution at center to play with Ryan. We haven't abandoned our plans for Holland, Bonino, Rakell, etc.

Ennis could be that and Pominville could more than replace Ryan's production. Once your younger centers are ready you could shift Ennis to wing. I think he would thrive in Anaheim. He's a player that Buffalo's roster is too ****** to get full value out of.

Source?

I don't remember reading that they asked for both. I remember that they asked for one or the other +, and Holmgren declined at that point.

(I remember believing that Anaheim's ask was fair, and the Flyers decision not to meet it was wise. I think I would have remembered a Schenn + Couturier ask.)

Its in a bunch of other places but this was the first one i found.

Anaheim reportedly asked for Sean Couturier and Brayden Schenn in earlier trade talks with the Flyers, who do not want to deal the promising forwards

Weird. Fair enough. Every report I remember reading was either/or.

We aren't looking to replace Ryan. We want to add to the chemistry our team currently has, which is missing a legit 2C.

Bozak is UFA after the season and Leafs fans want Grabo gone any opport. they get.
Briere makes even less sense then a guy like Brassard as he gets hurt and hasnt really been good at all this yr.
Roy is a rental and Stastny is expensive.
Good Centers dont come chep either.
Ribiero and Backstrom not trade bait.

Any interest in Bailey or Frans Nielsen of NYI?

What pieces are the Ducks even looking to part with for a 2C?

Ribeiro is definitely trade bait from my POV, but the Ducks don't want him. Something about Koivu and a dust-up in practice.

What if we could somehow get Morrow and Roy from Dallas?

Morrow-Getzlaf-Perry
Ryan-Roy-Selanne
Cogliano-Koivu-Winnik
Etem/Belesky-Bonino/Steckel-Palmieri

The thought of that doesn't bother me at all. Except Palmieri probably makes more sense on the 1st or 2nd line and wouldnt have to give anything up.

Do not want Morrow. I'd rather have Palms on our top line.

If we were trading Ryan, I'd like that deal. Right now though, he's off limits.
