Downie could very well be the ? if we're upgrading the wing with Ryan.
We aren't moving Ryan. We're looking for a temporary center for him. We also can't afford to take on Stastny's contract after signing Perry. The Avs aren't a good fit here.

28-30 is a bold prediction, but let's say it's somewhere between 20-30. That's still a good pick in a year with a deep draft. It's also pretty much the same case for most teams gearing up for the playoffs yet every year certain players' value is 1st round pick while others don't command that.

Basically, my point is if the Ducks are willing to part with their 1st rounder for Bozak the Stars would be right there dangling Roy, who is much better and probably more the type of player they're looking for. Bozak isn't a 2nd line center on a Cup contender, Roy could be.

We've heard lower body injury, but I suppose that could be flu related.

The Ducks aren't the most forthcoming with info.

Did a Ducks fan offer a 1st for Bozak?

Dear god. I have no love for the Ducks but that deal is absolutely putrid for them.

We don't need a center that has chemistry with Cogs. We have that.

Definitely not. It was a Leafs fan graciously offering him for that price.

So basically what you are looking for is a cheap 3rd line center with a bit of scoring ability, probably someone who needs a change of scenery or who is having a down year

N.Schultz replaces Fowler's minutes at ES and PK without much of a downgrade. Gagner solidifies the top 6.

IMO it makes ANA a better team for atleast the next 2 playoffs.

No, we're looking at rentals. Derek Roy is who we've zeroed in on from the sound of things.

were looking for a rental 2nd line center. Rentals generally dont get you 1st line right wingers.

That is a great building block and there really is no incentive for Edmonton to trade that player unless what is coming back is something they need (ie. big mobile smart LH D).
You realize Gagner pretty much scores a little over 40 points every year, and has never played in a playoff game in his 6 seasons? oiler fans were trying to push him on anyone 8 months ago, now all of a sudden he's so much better? i like him but i wouldn't trade the farm for him either

Nick Schultz to Cam Fowler is a bigger downgrade than you might think.

Not really, though. There's Lindholm, then Vatanen (who's less two-dimensional than Lindholm, to say the least, and is quite small), but after that, I don't think there's too much out there. Welinski has some upside, but that's a long way, and everything after that even more. We certainly have a deeper forward pool.

Who knows how long that time actually would be. Gagner isn't even signed beyond the year. He is an RFA, obviously, so there's still a lot of value (unqestionably), but especially considering his numbers, who knows what he's going to ask.

It isn't actually that much of a position of strength.

Two more years, yes, I guess. But that includes Souray and Allen, who are aging. Sbisa has been decent, but Lindholm could very well be core piece of our defense going forward, right there with Fowler. Our offensive core now is much more set for the future than our defensive core, even with only one opening expected for next season.

Are you joking?

change that N. to a J. and we might have starting ground, but even then j schultz doesnt want to play in ana.

Fowler changing to schultz is a huge downgrade.

so kinda like how O'Reilly is a 26pt player aside from 1 off year.. Players break out .. Gagner is hopefully doing just that. Anyways.. I was valuing Gagner the same as Fowler.. I guess it is not the case.
