That forward group is crazy good. NHL teams would kill for that kind of line up.

Defense leaves a lot to be desired to say at least.

I wonder why the difference.

I think this year team Canada is trying out the model that brought Russia success in the previous WC: great forwards + poor defensemen = gold medal.

The defence is not as bad as it seems.

Schultz, Brodie, Campbell are great offensive defenders. Brodie was really strong after the Bouwmeester trade. Furthermore Dillon impressed me in the few games I saw. Other Countries are not better at all.

Look at the rosters Sweden, USA and Finland have right now. The only way anyone other than Russia puts up any kind of fight against Canada this year is if a goaltender plays out of his mind.

Agreed, and I'm not really a fan of the goaltending, either.

Russia does have poor defensemen. In '12 WC they had 1 dman who is NHL top pairing material - Nikulin. Fortunately for them, the only team with a strong forward group they had to face was Sweden.

Ye but they had 7 others who are khl top pairing d, and apparently they did an amazing job in the tournament. Atleast if you could bring up some facts instead of just a blanket statement. I bet you dont even know who most of them are. Besides, your nhl ruler is really useless in this debate

If they really were poor the team wouldn't lead the tourney in GA by a mile

And usually a pretty thin defense at this tournament.. best defensemen either pass or are in the playoffs.

We are stacked up the ying yang here - If we don't win Gold on Big Ice, we know what to expect at the Olympics again (2006)

Yeah, really looking forward to see this NHL Dynasty-quality lineup of forwards compete for the first time. Absolutely love Hall's skating overall, and Giroux and Stamkos on the same line...

Still gotta play the games though. Good players don't always mean good teams. Nothing is won on paper.
Here's praying though

I think you may be over-stating it just a tad.. it's hardly an NHL dynasty team, not with that defense and questionable goaltending. Some good young players who can flat out fly and score, but it's hardly a stacked team...I'm still counting on a few reinforcements being flown in after the first rd. of the playoffs. I prefer 3 defense, but I'll settle for 2 d-men and another forward.

If it wasn't the Olympic year next year he probably would have gotten the invite.

Plus once Hubs puts on a canada logo the screws come loose in his head. He takes dumb penalties and has cost Canada games at the WJC.

I really want to see Duchene and Hall on the same line. It would be so beautiful.
