Update 12/20: Nieto recalled from SF.

The Sharks have recalled Nieto and Hamilton and re-assigned Pelech to Worcester.

Brown has also been placed on IR to open a roster spot.

Aww poor Browny. He was showing a lot of good things, even if he was supposed to be only a goon.

Brown was starting to grow on my a little so it sucks to see him go down with an injury, but I'm thrilled to see the kids up again.

I mentioned something to the nature of bringing Nieto and Hamilton up yesterday. I was just hoping to be honest but looks like it did actually happen.

So .. Nieto on the 2nd line with Coots and Patty. Hamilton on the 4th with Desi and Shepp. That way Wingels can get back to Pavs line. Hopefully.

I'm a little surprised Tarasov was not called up as he has been pretty good all season. I guess they want him to work on his NHL game some more in the AHL before he gets the call.

I don't see that happening.

I don't know if they'll actually bench Havlat or not but I'm hoping they go back to the top 3 lines that they used to start the season:
Hertl-Thornton-Burns
Marleau-Couture-Kennedy
Nieto-Pavelski-Wingels
Sheppard-Desi-Hamilton

If SJ needs to recall Tarasov they're in trouble. He's not close to NHL ready yet.

You beat me to it. He's an impressive offensive player in the AHL but his game still needs quite a bit of work.

Probably would be best. Sucks about Brown. Guy brings a lot of energy which this team needs.

Daniil Tarasov is likely destined for the same issues guys like Benn Ferriero have: top six skill set but not talented enough to play top 6 in the NHL. Tarasov does have more offensive upside than Ferriero so there is still an outside chance, but for now he's just an excellent AHL player (and I'll take that LOL).

He did bring a lot of energy and was surprisingly playing pretty good hockey. It really didn't sound like the injury was all that serious and he's eligible to come off IR on the 11th I believe.

If both Nieto & Hamilton get into the lineup the coaches will have two more PKers at their disposal which is a good thing as the PK is struggling, especially the 1st unit.

Yeah more or less sounds like bumps and bruises. Nieto and Hamilton also bring speed. I wonder if Havlat has found his way back in the dog house like Stuart has.

Hey 210, how has Nieto looked in his two games? I see he had 5 points. Also, how has Hamilton been preforming?

I missed the Carolina game, but Havlat played almost 16 minutes. Wouldn't seem he's in any trouble.

Seems like McCarthy would be scratched for one of Hamilton or Nieto and Havlat would continue to do whatever it is he does.

Nieto was very good in his two games but Portland didn't put up much of a fight yesterday.

In my opinion, Hamilton & Kearns continue to be the two most consistent and more often then not, best skaters on the ice for Worcester. Hamilton's defensive play and playmaking abilities continue to be his best assets but considering the dearth of finishers in Worcester his playmaking abilities are a little bit wasted.

To echo stalockrox's comments, last night looked like a pick-up game where all the best players all ended up on one side so taking anything from that game is pretty much useless. In Nieto's other game his line had 10 shots despite Portland putting everything they had in stopping the Nieto/Hamilton/Tarasov line.

And in general, Hamilton is Worcester's best forward.

I wanna see some vets getting sat. And usually I'm not into that type of thing. But I think it's purely an effort issue right now. I realize that they can't go 110% every game of the year and expect to have gas in the tank come playoffs, but that was pretty pathetic last night.

I hope that Nieto is getting called up for top 9 time. Having him on the 4th would be useless.

And I'm sad to hear Brown is banged up, he really has played better than I expected of him. I like the Sheppard-Desi-Brown 4th line.

I really don't know what to expect from Hamilton. His brief callup here was not impressive.
