Looked and didn't see another thread for this one. Post who you guys know or hope will be on the roster for Worlds. With the AHL Cleveland Barons probably not making the playoffs I'm hoping both Marcel Goc and Christian Ehrhoff are on the roster. I wonder if Kolzig will play as well? I heard Sturm has confirmed he will not play.

Kolzig isnt playing as he has having a surgery and wont be healthy till the WC's.
Sturm hasn't confirmed, that he won't play, but his old injury hurts him somehow and it's not sure. if he's going to participate. That is really a pity.
This WC would have been the best chance for Germany, because we can use (almost) all our NHL-players...
We really could use Seidenberg and Schubert as well, our "big three" are by far the most talented defensemen we have. But it doesn't look like they will be out of the playoffs by then...
Well, luckily other players can play quite good as well
Who would have thought that a b-team* would be able to beat Sweden?
It was the first victory against them in 13 years and the first shut out in history.
*Without players from the teams which play in the semi-finale
Sweden didn't play with their best team, but they still had six NHLers on the roster (Zetterberg, 2x Sedin, Norström, etc.)
It´s sad that Kölzig and Sturm are out or most likely out (Sturm).
I´d love to see Hackert in a national team dress, but he´s injured too.
In addition Sanderson mentioned that some of the AHLer might miss the tournament too - what a pity
All summed up: it´s going to be something like a a/b-squad at the WC this year with lots of players missing, but i´m optimistic about the team fighting and playing well.
Any opinion about team Germany's coaching ? Hans Zach played a huge role in Germany's recent success and I think the team might miss him more than any player.
Don´t think that this will be a big problem. Sure it might hurt a bit, but Poss is a coach who´s got the teams fighting pretty well too.
I don´t expect a big difference in success or style they´ll play.

Can't wait the next Switzerland-Germany game, entertaining hockey at its finest. Mabey Poss will pull the goalie to line six defenders on the blue line

I wouldn't say that. Poss plays a completely different system than Zach did. Zach played pretty defensive, whereas Poss plays much more offensively.
It's now official, that Sturm won't be able to participate. He's going for surgery next week. The good news is, that Christian Ehrhoff, Marcel Goc and Dimitri Pätzold will join the squad (Cleveland is missing the playoffs in the AHL).

I"m glad those three made it, but would have liked to see the Barons make the playoffs. Good luck to three pretty nice guys and fellow Germans.
I'm quite surprised that someone from the staff remembered Pätzold
Last year Müller and Jonas were the two goalies behind Kölzig, Jung was the replacement when someone couldn't play. Now Pätzold was added, leaving us with four goalies.
Three of them are already with the team or will arrive shortly, only Jonas is missing because Berlin is in the finale.
It will be interesting to see who will stay at home.
Somehow I can't imagine Pätzold coming over only to be cut a week later...
Müller is the no.1 so he should be set, leaving only Jung and Jonas.

I don´t see the offense - i´m just able to see the hard work, the new system in the offense, but it doesn´t work (like Zach´s system didn´t work) and IMO there´s no offense, so their style is pretty equal.
Decent goalies, hard work, "staying at home" and here and there a bit of offense and *hopefully* a lucky shot that finds its way into the goal.
A little side note to the tournament....has anyone seen the new national team jersey's with the eagle crest on the front? I like it except I just ordered the older version two weeks ago! Oh well. Just wondering what you guys thought.

How many of those (NHL-players) are there anyway?
And do you reckon other countries don't have their NHL-players in teams as well?
Well, right now Kölzig, Sturm, Hecht, Seidenberg, Goc and Ehrhoff.
Other countries have NHLers as well, but they are not as important for them. Germany has no one to replace the NHL-players equally, unlike the top nations.
