Offers for Buffalo's Vanek, Stafford, Pominville and Miller

These 4 all are signed past this season but with Buffalo's obvious need for a youth rebuild, it is time to maximize assets. Granted maybe 1 or 2 are dealt at the deadline, you can also propose draft day trades.

Sabres needs, Top 6 potential forwards under 26
1 Top 4 defenseman potential under 26
Young Starting goalie potential (think Bernier, Lindback etc.)

Vanek for ?
Stafford for?
Miller for?
Pominville for?

get Jason Pominville and a 3rd round pick
get Simon Despres, Beau Bennett, and a 1st round pick

get Jason Pominville
get Chris Tanev, and Mayson Raymond

get Ryan Miller
get Anders Lindback, Nikita Kucherov, and Keith Aulie

get Drew Stafford
get Cal Clutterbuck, 4th round pick

get Thomas Vanek
get Chris Kreider, 1st round pick

get Thomas Vanek
get Tyler Toffoli, Jonathan Bernier

What would you offer?

How exactly are the Rangers taking on $7M in cap when one of the reasons we're shopping Gaborik is to clear space for next year? I'd like Vanek on the team, but we're lousy trading partners.

A 3 way deal that ships Miller out and gets them Bernier + Prospects/Picks - Would be the best move they could pull.

------

done quickly:

Buff-
Bernier
Toffolli
1st (??)
Young Depth (??)

LA-
Pominville
Solid back up(from ??)

??-
Miller

Buffalo gets bent over in that NYR proposal, no thanks to the MIN either.

Not sure why NYR would want Vanek when Gaborik is on the block

Pit will say no because apparently Bennett is a top prospect in the world. I would probably prefer Pouliot anyways

The Kings can't afford Tomas Vanek's cap hit.

The Kings want a stay at home d-man

Pittsburgh wouldn't do that.

The Vancouver one isn't good for the Sabres

Pittsburgh seems to be paying a hell of a lot more than Canucks for Pominville.

Miller can get you more than that

Minnesota deal is fair, but why do you need a Clutterbuck if you are going into rebuild and already have Ott? Stafford would be a better piece to keep in a rebuild, or trade for picks and prospects.

NYR deal is not far from fair, but how can the Rangers possibly afford to add Vanek's cap hit unless Gaborik or Richards are gone before the deadline.

Kings could use a played like Vanek but not with his $ tag, they would probably be more interested in Drew Stafford's and even that is pricey without $ going the other way.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST...

Can Buffalo reach the floor after these trades?

I don't know why this constant polemic is necessary, but you are right, Bennett is an instant no. Not because he is the best prospect ever, but because there is a role for him on the Pens. Even in this season already. He won't be traded.

That price is pretty steep anyway. And about double what it apparently is for Vancouver, so if that is the inner-conference mark up these days, we'll just won't be trading it seems.

Our offer for Pominville will start at Merrill and Josefson.

Gaborik would be shipped out with Vanek replacing his offense

Merrill is intriguing but Josefson does not hold much value to us

That doesn't help us. It still leaves us too close to the cap.

The Tanev + Raymond offer, while favouring us valuewise, doesn't make sense for us, as Tanev is one of only two right-hand shots on our defense, and has been our most consistent defenseman this year. At this point I'd rather move Kassian than Tanev.

I am a huge fan of Pominville, though. Would be willing to trade Schneider for him as well.

Then what else would have to be added to that original proposal?

Yikes, we're not exactly in a position to deal our first rounder.

Is that a deal breaker?

Probably considering how thin the FA crop just got on scoring forwards with Perry and Getz signed + how rarely players like Vanek/Pominville become available. Also, neither of them has an NTC like Nash did, so Buffalo has the freedom to field offers from 29 teams.

Sorry why would Tampa Bay trade a young Anders Lindback for a soon to be 33 year old Ryan Miller, First off theres no way that Miller will waive his NTC to play In Tampa Bay I'm sure he will want to be out west and be near his Actress wife. That Is way overpayment on Tampas part for a soon to be 33 year old Goaltender In Miller.

Why? because Lindback is young and is not a championship caliber goalie, Ryan Miller is. With Vinny and St. Louis, it gives them a chance to win sooner rather than later. Plus Millers NMC is only 8 teams. I can think of 8 teams he would likely not play at before TB.

What championships has Miller won? Lindback is currently playing better than Miller is 8 years younger and isn't a UFA after next season. We don't need or want Miller so can these proposals stop?

So taking your proposal and expanding, how is this?

Buffalo: Bernier, Toffoli, Edmonton's first, Paajarvi
LA: Pominville, Khabibulin/Dubnyk
Edmonton: Miller, Martinez/Drewiski

Even though I trust Dubnyk, you'd have to take the chance to get a goalie like Miller. LA would probably have a hard time trading all three of those pieces but I think that they'll have a hard time getting something big for Bernier alone, and Toffoli to me isn't really worth much. However, I'd assume that Buffalo would be happy getting a potential starting goalie, a fast forward and the potential to have 2 top 10 picks this year.
