Good signing. He's no Welker but he's still a good slot receiver.

Looks like Wallace and Harvin are the only receivers getting big money this offseason.

He's good, but there's no way you can count on him given how injury prone he is. Okay signing but it's hard to trust him.

Weird, but understandable. 5-year deal + Amendola is younger. He is injury prone though, so I'm a little worried. Can't wait to see what he can do in our offense. I like the signing.

Hopefully we draft a deep threat to round up this WR squad.

Wow, BB must have really hated Welker enough to not offer him 6 million a season.

I would have definitely taken 2 years of Welker over 5 years of Amendola. If I was Tom Brady, I'd be steaming.

Not a bad signing but I worry about his health, he was injury prone for past two seasons.

Calling it now, Greg Jennings to the Rams..

Exactly.

I don't really get this. The guaranteed money is less than 2 years of pay and they might cut him after 2 anyways. Not sure why they would let Welker walk (who knows the offense and has chemistry with Brady) to bring in someone else for a longer deal.

Seems like typical BB trying to say how much smarter he is then everyone else

There was no reason to drag out contract talks with Welker and ultimately cut ties with him when they go and give the $$$ right to a injury prone WR to replace him

Welker has a few more years left of productive football and has been major face of Pats franchise.. He deserved a little more love from the organization

Five years with him? Yikes.

I hope Mass. has their band aids stock piled.

It's a fair deal. I wonder how it's structured but it seems like it would have been better to keep Welker.

It's a bit of a gamble on the Patriots' part but it's a real possibility that Amendola is going to fill Welker's shoes (for longer as Welker is four years older) and Belichick was right.

He is getting the same average salary, he doesn't know the offense and doesn't have chemistry with Brady. This is pretty much a downgrade all across the board. The only thing he has on Welker is that he is younger.

If he can stay on the field he'll catch 80-100 balls next year.

Maybe they think he's better in a year or two.
