3-0 Oilers, Kipper pulled... last goal was incredibly weak. TRADE HIM TO TORONTO

They should have gotten a solid prospect and a pick. Not two plugs who are unlikely to contribute to an NHL team and a first that has a condition on it.

Like I said.. Terrible trade.
You're ignoring the fact he will be paid almost 7 million a year next season and hasn't been playing particularly well.

Remember when Campbell got traded for Rostislav Olesz? Bad contract for bad contract? Campbell had put up 117 points in 215 games and was a combined +51 in 3 seasons as a Blackhawk. He was doing pretty awesome and he didn't return SQUAT. Remember what Heatley returned? Kovalchuk Hossa? Thornton? Havlat? Fisher? Etc...

Players don't always return great packages.

What does solid hockey even mean anymore? I'm a big J-bo fan, but he was like an officer on a sinking ship. The guy is a combined -32 the past two seasons. The guy has a similar career PPG average as Filip Kuba, and Kuba wasn't even a top pairing guy. He hasn't had a positive +/- in six years. He's definitely a top-4 guy, but he's not worth the farm.

Sure, he soaks up minutes and doesn't get hurt, but he's not exactly a force out there. He's one of the top paid players in the league and he only had 18 total goals as a Flame. That's 18 goals in 4 seasons. He's not brutal, but he's not worth 7 million for 4 goals a season..

Jussi Jokinen just passed through waivers because no one will pay him 3 million a season. Sometimes, salary doesn't match production and you can't get what you want. Bouwmeester as a Flame hasn't been good. With the cap shrinking I can't imagine there was a big market for him.

Rattie in or out of that trade is simple: Feaster asks for Rattie and Armstrong thinks about it, and decides the difference between Jbo and Redden doesn't justify moving him. That's what Jbo is worth.

Ripping off Feaster backfiring would be hilarious.
Where do I sign up for this?

I think the lack of value back to Calgary is a product of:
1) Player contracts limiting their tradeability (ie NMC/NTC for Iginla, long duration/high cap hit for Bouwmeester).
2) The 2013 draft is highly regarded, so teams are less willing to move picks for players
3) Falling cap next year, so teams are being more thrifty and less willing to move the farm for players

I think the value back to Calgary is a sheer strategy to tank and draft a center this year.

Let's be real we all know you only really get true #1 centers through drafting. Crosby, Giroux, Spezza, Toews, etc...

Pominville? I would be very interested, but probably too expensive. Also, Buffalo probably wouldn't trade him within the division. He would be a perfect replacement for Alfie though.

He's my personal fave for a top-6 winger and it happens he'd be the very best fit for this club as well.

Bishop + one of our decent prospects and/or 2nd rounder would do it. A slight over-payment would be necessary since it would be inter-divisional.

Do NOT want to face Bishop 6 times a year.

Taylor Beck scored his second of the year tonight. Damn, looks like we lost that trade at the 2008 draft.

Even if he got us Pominville? Dude, it's a small price to pay.

I think the fact that Feaster got a 1st for Bouwmeester, with teams seemingly shy of taking on future money, Bouw being on a bad (overpaid) contract, and him having under-produced for a long enough time for people to take notice of it (a period of years), I think Feaster did fine.

The long-shot prospects are just a side dish: show me anyone who says that they honestly thought Calgary could get a 16-21st overall 1st rounder for Bouwmeester last year, and I'll show you a bold-faced liar.

Its funny what the Flames fans were saying yesterday about his value - I was reading 1st + blue chip + more. Or some guy saying they wouldn't take the Habs 1st and 2nd unless Bealieu was included.

Nothing against Flames fans, our fans are just as clueless - but its funny to see what fans perceive as players value versus what they actually get.

The first rule of Trades & Rumors Boards Club is: fans generally are pretty clueless about player value.

The second rule of Trades & Rumors Boards Club is: FANS GENERALLY ARE PRETTY CLUELESS ABOUT PLAYER VALUE!

Derek Roy to Vancouver for 2nd + prospect.

Very happy he isn't on the Sens.

He will fit in great with the rest of the divers in Vancouver

Roy seems like a perfect fit with the rest of the Nucks skilled divers.

And the Canucks manage to go and grab one of the biggest divers on the market!

What a truly unlikable organization

Joe Niewendyk is not very good at this "GM" thing.

I dislike Roy, and didn't want him in Ottawa, but he should have got more for Roy than that... Connauton is not going to be much of a player.

All jokes aside, that's a good deal for the Canucks.

Once Kesler gets back, their center depth is H Sedin, Kesler, Roy and Lapierre. That's reall impressive.

So basically all but one of their centremen (Sedin) are divers.

What an awful team

Did you not watch Sedin diving in the finals?

Maybe it was his brother... they kind of look alike.
