I hate to say it, but Franzen. That line was great tonight.

Franzen

Seems like a trend is forming, every time I expect them to get blown out they turn around and blow the other team out, I'll take it though.

HM: Howard. Most of the team had a pretty good game. Cleary-Andersson-Brunner line was pretty useless.

Tootoo needs to play next game, Ducks will be out for blood.

Clearly the Franzen-Datsyuk-Abdelkader line gets the 3 stars tonight, with Abby taking the top spot with the hatty. Combined +12 tonight. You're not going to lose many games when a line dominates like that.

Tootoo doesn't seem to scare anybody and hey, when he's not in there, some of the other guys actually get to fight their own fights!

Babcock doesn't usually mess with the lineup after a game like this.

Gator
Pasha
Howard

-----------------

I was so preoccupied with Gator that I didn't notice Jimmy stats. 33/34 is realgood.

Also really liked Smith tonight. He still goes up the boards too much but a fast-skating offensive defenseman with a mean streak like that is unique. I think by the end of the season he'll be producing a lot.

To be honest I don't think the wings played that great of a game, certainly not a 5-1 dominant game. Ducks controlled the play for most of the 1st 2 periods imo. 3rd period was a wash. Wings just took advantage of their chances tonight, unlike the last game.

I don't understand why some of those poll options are not Abdelkader.

I'm fine with that; Detroit's usually the one who controls the play and scoring chances, but ends up losing. This was a nice change of pace.

No you're right. And at least for the first 10 minutes, Wings were getting handled. But a fortunate 50/50 call went our way and Jimmy stopped most everything to keep us in it.

Some nights, you convert on all your chances, some nights you cant seem to stop hitting the post. That happens. This was a good night for the Wings. Not that many shots, but really good quality chances and they made the most of em.

Remember last game? Datsyuk had like 2-3 wide open nets and shoots it wide? Gotta convert, and today they did.

Anyway, same as everyone.

Abby
Pavs
Mule/Howard.

Without Howard saving our bacon in the first period, that game was out of our control.

Yep, I'm not too big to admit Franzen was good tonight. He'll never be a physical presence again but he sure did a nice job setting Abby up and banking a puck in off a Duck.

Agreed. Hockey is a funny sport in which things can change so drastically from game to game. One game you can't buy a goal or a big stop, next game you blow out one of the best teams in the league
