Sharks--Devils

To NJ:
Dan Boyle

To SJS:
Mark Fayne
3rd round draft pick
Tedenby

NJ could use an elite PMD, who isn't a liability defensively. Sharks get a young top 4 D , with a friendly contract along with a struggling youngster with a mid pick.

Uhm, no. We would get far better offers, and we don't need defense.

Value is probably there but I would think SJ could get a better package.

Boyle's not "not a liability defensively", he plays shutdown minutes 90% of the time. And not even close, no thanks.

He'd be a good replacement. Change the 3rd to a 2nd? Who do you guys have at defense? Irwin/Vlasic? Burns has looked good while playing forward, no point in moving him. Also get younger.

Yes, but Boyle is better at doing what Zids does, and is very good defensively.

Glad you can read!

What would we have to add?

Boyles value to the Sharks is a lot higher than his trade value. Boyle isn't going anywhere unless its a huge overpayment, imo.

The way you phrased it, it sounded like you were just looking for someone who isn't a liability defensively, whereas Boyle is good defensively.

We want early picks or good forward prospects. Tedenby is an undersized 23 y/o barely putting up a .5 PPG in the AHL. Not really interested in him as a main piece for Boyle.

I think Jux means that he's more than just "not a liability," rather he's very good defensively. It took me a little while to figure that out haha.

EDIT: Yep, that's what Jux meant.

OT: I'd want more than that for sure. Not too sure that we'd be good trading partners, since you wouldn't like to give up the prospects I'd like from NJ.

The main piece is Mark Fayne. He's really solid himself, but is nowhere close offensively as Boyle. Would you consider if it's Josefson?

Don't be a homer man. Dan Boyle would do wonders for us. Our PP is dreadful, especially without Kovy.

Dan Boyle is also going to be 37 years old in a few months.

For Dan Boyle, the center piece is a young winger with speed and go from there.

Elias/Zubrus/Marty/Hedburg/Salv won't last forever. We are talking about a legit all around first liner, big 2nd/3rd liner with a good scoring touch, the best goalie ever to put on skates, a solid backup, and our captain, a top 4 D. We would be fine in the future with this trade, with a chance at the cup.

That's Tedenby! He hasn't met his expectations, but he's still young. I don't think he's a great centerpiece, which is why I included a young cheap top 4 D and a pick.
