NEWS & NOTES

QUOTES TO NOTE

We have 20 games left or so, it’s an important stretch.
It’s a challenge for everyone here with the short schedule so every game is important.
We have a tough schedule so we just have to take care of ourselves.
- Marian Gaborik

It feels like every game, because of the schedule, we only play Eastern Conference, every game is big now. It’s fun. I like it.
It’s exciting. You just have to make sure you win, it’s more fun. It’s that simple.
- Henrik Lundqvist

I just didn't think we were doing enough on the walls.
Going into the 3rd, we wanted to continue to pressure but we weren't doing enough and were losing battles along the wall.
But I'm not going to pick it apart. We've played a lot of hockey here and did some really good things.
- John Tortorella

Can't afford to lose a game like this. Should be a W already.

This game will either be a huge disappointment or it'll be 1) the third win in a row and boost that confidence in our ability to "find a way" 2) give us a huge boost if we score a lot of goals and get some guys going (Gaborik, Richards, Pyatt) or 3) be a big let down and we're back to fumbling.

It's sometimes a question as to how Marty handles his game in the first 5 minutes. Teams that plays a skillful game like to test the back up real early and Marty's starts can be shaky sometimes so hopefully, he finds his rhythm and we can get to work within minutes or even just second after the puck drop and not let them get a lead early. Against a capable Markstrom whose games are similar to those of Anderson (sometimes on the extreme 0-1GA 35SA or 4+ GA .863%), we hope to put more than 2 away.

If Clemmensen plays, we're automatically screwed. The back up who was the back up until his back up became the starter after the team's starter went down and is now the backup to the team's backup goalie and will be the 2nd back up if their goalies are healthy.

Being a big admirer of Markström, I'll settle for a win that still leaves the man with some integrity. The boy is better than Lundy was at this age and as a Swede I'd hate to see him "shelled".

Rangers need that 3rd consecutive win though. 3-2 Rangers?

Unless we play 5 on 3 for 60 min, this should be a win.

In before the "how will Kreider stand a chance to prove himself on Boyle's wing"

Must win, as always nowadays!

Should be a solid win. Not going to say easy, because no game in this league is easy.

Also nice to see Kreider back in the lineup. Hopefully this time he has his head on straight and remembers to use that speed of his. Just keep moving your feet, kiddo, and you'll be ok.

Guys, I just had a great idea. I think I'm going to mail this to Torts!

1) Put Kreider with Halpern and Powe
2) Bench Kreider as soon as he breathes out improperly
3) ???
4) PROFIT!

Anyway. LGR! Hoping for a win, that said, the Panthers are a bottom team with lots of injuries and bad goaltending. We're in for a lot of trouble.

Should be a relatively easy win. So, Rangers lose 2-1

Halpern's better than Boyle. If anything, Boyle should be playing fourth line wing or benched. Try something like:

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Pyatt-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Miller-Callahan
Boyle-Halpern-Powe

This game is like Rocky 6, and the Rangers are Mason "The Line" Dixon. The only upside to winning tonight is beating the worst team in the NHL. So?

But if we lose... oh boy, everything could be erased.

Moral of the story, don't underestimate your competition, don't play to the level of your competition. A convincing win would be very, very nice tonight.
