Montreal Canadiens own promising group of prospects in Europe and NCAA

The Montreal Canadiens have a good mix of talent among their prospects playing in Europe and the NCAA. The organization has eight forwards and four defensemen in this group that possesses varying degrees of speed, skill, physicality, size, and grit. These young prospects have shown improvement in their development this year and could add good overall depth to the Canadiens' lineup in the near future.

Prospects Danny Kristo, Magnus Nygren, Daniel Pribyl, and Dustin Walsh could be signed to NHL entry-level contracts with the Canadiens before the summer deadline. Mac Bennett has the option to follow the same CBA loop-hole of free-agency that Justin Schultz (EDM) chose to use last summer with Anaheim.… read more

good article...

I liked your line about Kristo getting the chance to make the jump to the NHL right away...

I could see that happening.

The Habs are certainly building a wealth of quality depth in their system and it's good to see Collberg and Nygren will both play for Frolunda next season. It shows the considerable forethought the Habs have implemented,to insure a flow of talent through their pipeline in the Salary Cap Era.Thus avoiding future rebuilding efforts and maintaining a team with Elite players at various age increments that will be the measuring stick for NHL teams in the coming generation.

I'm surprised to see that Kristo is that old (2 years older than Gallagher and 4 years more than Galchenyuk). I hope he could join Habs this spring and have the same impact as the two Gally.

same...havent seen him play enough to make a educated guess but from what i have read over the years of his development and from what i have seen of him i dont have much faith in his ability to become a roster player on the habs. Seems to me he has attitude and commitment issues. But we will see

It actually is a pretty impressive list.

Trunev's rights will expire and won't be coming over to NA.
Cichy won't be signed and his rights will expire.
Sullivan and Didier have more years to develop to see what we do with them.
Walsh will likely get an AHL contract.

The rest seem to be in line for entry-level deals when their development is ready to take the next step.

he has pro-level speed. i think he has second line potential for sure. i'm not impressed with our size and grit up front. no prust or pacioretty in the system. hope we address that this draft

Other than one down year, kristo is progressing nicely. People on this board are very pessimistic. I say good on him four wanting to get an education, it allows him to fall back on something if hockey does not work out for him.

I think it's the opposite: most of people here are very optimistic about our prospects.
