But at the expense of Funwick? No way.

No, I haven't even heard anything about us visiting his reps office today....even though I know upwards of 20 teams were...including guys like Edmonton's owner and the Preds Head Coach.

Makes no sense for us to not be interested at all, so I'm sure we've had some contact.

I'm sure we went with some ridiculously low offer and will say we made a competitive offer at the end of the day.

Avs should've sent the executive advisor/alternate governor.

Does "Der Kaiser" want Schultz-money? It's a pretty huge risk throwing $3,775,000 at him. Understand if some teams backs down from that.

DeKeyser will go to Detroit, the Avs have little to no shot at getting him.

Why on earth would a GM guarantee that to a player who has never played in the NHL before.

Especially when his offensive upside is pretty low. $3.775m is about $1m short of what Smid will cost in UFA. I'd rather have Smid for that sort of money.

Maybe I just don't get the appeal as much as some

Because that's what you have to do to get the top college free agent available to sign with your club. By all reports, he's good enough to at least be a top 3 guy on our blueline at this very second, even if he is mainly a defensive guy.

He's left handed too, it makes perfect sense to let him know the minutes are there if he wants them.

Most of it will be unreachable bonuses. Actual max salary will be $1.3M or something like that.

Btw, DeKayser's agent is Don Meehan.

I have huge doubts about that right now. In a couple years I could see him as a middle pairing guy, but right now he is a bottom pairing guy at best. The hype machine is in full effect, at best he is Smid after a couple years of development. A good prospect to have, but not one worth paying 3+m right away to.

Are you sure your an Avs fan?

Might be one of the worse trade proposals Ive seen, wow.

I wouldn't even trade the Avs 1st for Vanek. Man that's a bad deal.

The players can only sign ELCs so that's going to be hard to do. The max you can offer is probably around $900K base salary and then some bonuses that take the cap hit to $3.5-3.7M. If other teams think he'll be good, they would easily offer that.

Why would he want to be outshined? And EJ's such a bust he'll be our best defensemen.

pretty sure he's joking around since most Avs fans ***** about EJ and call him a disappointment because he's not putting up 40 pts on offense.

Yea that's what I was hoping, but these days one can never be certain with Avs fans.

We have a very diverse group of opinions around here lately with our less then stellar performance on ice.

(Only thing that seems to be a consensus opinion around here is the Clown behind the bench needing to go)
