I think Avs have to add a third to Jones to net a first round pick. He's overpaid by at least $1M.

I'd tell them we can retain $1.0M of the cap hit.

He hasn't hit the 30 goal mark in 6 years. I have major, major concerns with Horton.

I think, with his injury history and playing style, he's one of those guys that fade before 30.

I agree there are concerns, but that hasn't stopped the free agent market from overpaying players big time. Horton will get an inflated contract from somebody like the Flames.

Thinking he should and thinking he will are two different things. This team has held onto placeholders like Kobasew for longer than they should have because the coach at the time liked them. I don't think it's crazy to think that Kobasew is being played because Sacco likes what he sees (and to give Chuck credit, he's earned it) rather than just showcasing him.

LOL, that made me laugh...in a nice way, not calling anyone out or anything.

You're right, maybe I am giving them a bit too much credit.

With that being said, the coach sets the lines and the GM makes the trades. Yes, they communicate, but any dummy can see Kobasew's value is at an extreme high right now and I don't know how an NHL GM wouldn't capitalize on that...regardless of what lines his coach is liking and using.

We're a basement team. Basement teams need to sell.

If we don't, I will be disgusted more than I already am.

Kobasew has played well enough to earn a raise. It's probably better for Avs if he got it elsewhere and Avs can slot in Malone, Heard or Carey on a fourth line.

If the Coyotes really are looking to move Keith Yandle it would just be perfect for both teams if they would take Stastny for him. It seems like Phoenix want some salary coming back as well.

That is assuming Stastny isn't broken

You'd think so right? But as I've made clear in the Sherman forum, I have zero confidence in the front office at present.

As for Jones to the Booins, I'd love that, that's just what Montreal needs to win the NE division.

If we could do a package deal of Jones+Kobasew that would be amazing.

Going through Bruins list, there are not a lot of high end prospects they're willing to part from (I don't see them trading Hamilton, Khokhlachev, or Subban. Don't know about Spooner). I can see Avs liking Jared Knight, as he brings those type of qualities Sherman & Pracey love. But maybe more on the lines of Caron+1st/2nd for Jones+Kobasew+3rd??? We will probably have to keep close 1 million of Jones salary.

His wife was the virtual bartender and is the granddaughter of Jacques Plante. That has to count for something.

I read somewhere recently that the Bruins 2 untouchables were Subban and Spooner.

Thanks, good to know. Also I am very sure that Khokhlachev has to be part of that list, to me there is no reason why they would trade the guy except for the right deal and I don't consider Jones+Kobasew the "right" deal.

Grandniece if I'm not mistaken, but that still isn't enough to make me liek him or to wash away the Bruins stench off of him.

Hopefully contenders from the East start panicking with Pittsburgh starting to make some moves and the Avs are able to profit from it.

I think Boston is now going to have to bolster their lineup significantly if they want to compete with Pitt. Picking up Murray today just makes that team even stronger.

Edit: The Murray trade should give an idea of what ROB can bring in for value, before you laugh, Murray hasn't been all that good the past couple seasons. A solid, physical 3rd pairing guy is all that he is now. A little less than Murray will likely be what ROB fetches.

Murray sucks now, but if he brings in a decent return, maybe there's hope for O'Byrne.

Interested to hear what Murray's return is. Should give us a better idea for what a guy like O'Byrne could net. Similar player to Murray.

Also might give us an idea of the value of a guy like O'Brien, who's been playing better for us lately.

#Pens finalizing a trade for #Sharks Douglas Murray. Latest talk I heard was draft picks involving 2 2nd rounds or 2nd/ 3rd. #tradetracker

That can't be right.
