Or is the rumoured deal include Iginla resigning?

We have to remember, Iginla is 35 years old. I think I'd rather face him for 3 more years in his twilight years, then Dougie Hamilton turning into a #1 Defender (but I think that's a stretch).
Well the watercooler guys on TSN were referencing the fact that Feester is asking for a prominent prospect, a secondary one and a 1st rounder, and Boston still seems to be at the front of the pack for his services. As far as the deal being contingent on Iggy signing a new deal, it makes sense for Chiarelli to go this route.

Douglas Murry

Did anybody see that coming? Why weren't we in on that? I would have made the deal if I were Nonis and SJ would have got better picks from us.
Murry would have been a great leader and the stay at home Dman we need. Wondering why the leafs weren't in on it, would have been some much needed depth for us on the blue line as well.
Anybody know anything about the situation also, would you have made the deal if we were able to?

I don't believe for a second Boston would give up Hamilton for a rental. Iginla wants to win a cup and I bet he bolts back to CGY if he wins one.

Yes. Murray's name has been coming up in trade rumours for a long time. How do you know we weren't in on it? Do you really want to pay 2 2nd rounders for a UFA when we aren't contending for the Cup? Murray is a 4th-ish D-man who is slow. That's not what we need.

I don't either. Chiarelli is a shrewed man -- just look at how he's underpaying some of his players like Krejci and Lucic.

I think it would be something along the mines of Caron, Koko/Spooner, 1st

Lucic is about to start making 6 million per year. Rask is about to get a big raise as well.

Underpaid days are about to end.

... But yea Hamilton for a rental wont be happening.

Seguin, Marchand and Lucic will be seeing a 2 mill raise next season, not to mention they have a few UFAs plus a significant RFA in Rask. Not sure they'd even be able to re-sign or extend Iginla if he were to come over, so he seems nothing more than a rental if they were to acquire him, and I'm sure he wants it that way too.

Caron, Koko, 1st looks like a good deal for both sides.

If your Calgary I have to think you want at least one asset as good as Joe Morrow. I don't see a player Boston could (and would) offer as a centrepiece that would really entice the flames.

Chicago seems like a better fit to me.

Doesn't matter.

Carolina doesn't have their top goalie now.

They likely finish outside of the playoffs.

Rangers get the 8th.

Boston gains the division lead as Montreal falls.

Depending upon how our upcoming home and home against Sens goes, we could be playing either of Habs or Jets in the first round.

An all Canadian first round matchup in the East is very likely. Either of :
Montreal v/s Toronto; Winnipeg v/s Ottawa
Montreal v/s Ottawa; Winnipeg v/s Toronto

Just the buzz would be electric. At this point, I'd just take playoffs for Leafs. Do not disappoint now.

The top 8 is really starting to separate itself now.

I can't see any of the teams in the bottom 7 making it. The Islanders are making a push but they don't have the tools to get into the playoffs, unless Nabokov plays Vezina calibre.

Habs were up on us by 10 points 5 days ago, now they're up by 5. I'd love to see a 1st round matchup between the two.

I just hope we can stay in sixth so we can play the weak SE team, either the Canes or Jets.
