SK and Hall Gill to Pittsburgh

Just curious. I know Pitt is looking for PK help and a forward to go along side Crosby. SK is an Assist machine and old Treebeard have the reach to be 50% of a PK by himself.

Nashville would either be looking for a goal scoring prospect or high picks.

Opinions?

I really have no interest in Kostitsyn. He's doesn't seem like a guy that gives the most effort all times, and we need someone who'll play a smart two-way game.

Gill, on the other hand, would be of interest.

SK could probably be had for cheap at the moment.

It would be a good move for the pens, imo.

How so? He'd be in the press box faster than you could say "lazynotrussian"

Also, where does SK fit? He certainly isn't taking anyones spot in the top-6, Bennett included.

Haven't seen enough of Gill this year to say if he's still useful or not.

I wouldn't want the Pens to pick up SK for free.

Gill I could see, but SK? I can't imagine why Pittsburgh would want a guy like him.

SK is untouchable---not in the usual sense that no other team could touch tim, but rather in that no other team would want to touch him.

If the Pens hadn't signed Eaton and tightened up defensively I would have had interest in Gill but don't think we would need him anymore. No thanks to SK either.

pass on SK. I wouldn't even consider him an option. Gill would make me think some though.

on SK.....the other night he made a terrible, nonsensical, utterly horrible line change where he was the point on the PP and looked like a forward. No excuse for that and he paid the price in sitting that game and I am sure on the plane ride back from Edmonton to Nashville.

One thing Pred fans have ever had to worry about was SK's effort. You can question his decisions on whether to pass or shoot, but not effort. The one bad change has put him back on a level with his lazy brother. Remember, he was the good (bela) russian last year and was responsible in the playoffs. Kid skates hard, forechecks hard, and pretty well defensively. I was on the hate sk bandwagon for the bad line change, but give me a break, he is a decent player and a good top 6 tweener.

Gill would be a welcomed addition (for the right price) for the Penguins. I think he can still be serviceable as a bottom pairing guy and on the PK. As for SK, I'd kick the tires on him, but he is not what the Penguins need at the moment. If he came cheap, sure. But I wouldn't part with anything major to acquire him. If he where acquired, I believe he would get a shot with Malkin and Neal since the chemistry and the productivity of the Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis line has been so good. Maybe he would mesh with Malkin. But that would mean Bennett goes to the 3rd line or back to the minors, which I don't think he deserves as he has been effective so far. Basically, yes there would be an interest in Gill and meh on SK.

I wouldn't mind adding Kostitsyn its contingent upon a few things though.

1) we find a true top 6 winger someone else.
2) we are able to move Kennedy in that deal or another deal

I think he'd be a better option than Kennedy on the 3rd line. He could really help bridge the offensive gap between Staal and Sutter. He only makes $1mil more than Kennedy and is a UFA after next year. Not much of a risk considering how bad Kennedy has been.
