That's our top 2 going forward. Clarkie back to the 3rd line where he should be getting a ton of garbage goals and CBGB doing their thing...

Also have to mention I have become a big Steve Bernier fan over the last 2 seasons.
I actually think bernier is the one player who could do well with Top 6 time...very good skill around the net, decent shot..I like him

For the 100 time... D'Agostini is a addition for depth, nothing more. If you and everyone else wants to tag him as the winger we've been missing to replace Parise on our top two lines, go ahead, be my guest, I won't jump in the same hoop as the rest of you.
Again no one "expects" him to be a traditional first line player. You're a Devils fan, you should know how we play our lines. Poni isn't a top line forward, yet he plays at the top.

A healthy Zubrus, I would imagine. In that lineup, CBGB would probably still be the 3rd line. Slide Poni up when healthy and one of CBGB down to 4th.

I don't agree with it, personally.

As someone posted, top 9 should be

LW: Zubrus, Poni, Elias
C: Henrique, Loktionov, Zajac
RW: Kovy, Clarkson, Dags
4th line: CBGB

Mix and match to your preference.

Cheap move I like it.

I Like RGs Loutranslated speak.

Play on the 3rd line and light a fire under Clarkson's butt, if Dags plays well, let him have Clarkson's spot. I don't see him playing with Kovy, but thats fine. A 2nd/3rd liner is good as it does what everyone has wanted all year. It pushes CBGB back down to the 4th line. If you can't get a big fish, then you make the team solid and 4 lines deep.

I still prefer Zubs on the top line if it isn't Henrique personally.

I wish. I imagine they'd want the world for him. I also imagine Lou made every attempt to get him yesterday to save on travel costs.

I got a question I need someone to answer please. When Zubes comes back if there's no injuries, what do we do about the 8 defensemen? With D'Agostini now and then Barch and Kostopolous we'll have 14 forwards right? We can't carry 14 forwards with 8 defensemen If Tallinder's healthy during the regular season right?

Cross that bridge when we come to it. But with all 22 of those players being healthy, I would bet that Kostopolous gets waived (and claimed.)

And becomes the newest addition to the "random Devils" thread

Can't wait to see what the post are going to look like in about 2 weeks. It'll probably go something like "Damn, D'Agostini is the new version of Josefson/Zharkov".

Kosto is on a 2-way contract I believe and I don't think Lou is done either.

Might flip for another winger, picks, or anything for somebody willing to overpay for a D-man at the deadline.

I like this trade a lot. If it doesn't work out or if everyone's not healthy then Lou still has Fayne, Josefson, other defensemen, second rounders and so on to put together a good package for a real-deal player.

If D'Agostini ends up being the second line right wing then our awesome GM got us two top six forwards for two 5th rounders.

Last year Steen put up 15g and 13a in 43 games, Andy McDonald 10g and 12a in 25 games, and Sobotka is the teams #1 Pker.

Nice try.

Didn't you say Loktionov couldn't center Kovy on the top line? You're wrong a lot. Mostly because of how much you exaggerate the negativiy.
I`m sorry to kind of quote this twice, but it was fitting.

Detroit just lost Quincey for 4 to 6 weeks I think. I would be willing to bet they would overpay for a Swede defenseman (Tallinder) They do like their Swedes in up in Stabbytown.

I know Poni isn't a 1st line player, that's not the issue. The issue is landing all these players and asking them to play over their heads, only for them to fail and drag down the production of guys that are suppose to carry this team.

I'm aware that there's not a top 6 forward out there that might be available, that's not the issue. The issue is having a fanbase that believes that some how, by pure miracle, a player who never played as a top #6 forward will somehow get the talent to stay on a line with Kovy.

I just don't understand how a player can magically turn his career around when arriving to the New Jersey Devils when he hasn't been doing it since his arrival in the NHL.

upside - a not so cranky Langenbrunner.
downside - another Kostopoulos that can't fight.

I expect somewhere in the middle.

So being the #1 PK'er, makes you a top 9 forward how? Anyways, keep the dream alive I say

We'd be in salary cap hell, Malkin will easily get the max contract...

You understand that the kid is 26 and has only had 1 full season in the NHL? That season he put up a solid 21g/25a with 6 PP goals.
