I expected much worse than 1-0 after two periods.

C'mon boys. Snatch it!

His hands are fine - you see it on some of the snipes he's had on his goals/shootout goals this year.

Teams aren't going to give him that tiny space he needs to make the quick dangles/shots he has, because they realize how dangerous a player he is.

Problem for Ebs is when that's gone, he just becomes an undersized guy out on the ice. Can't really protect the puck too well, easy to body, and not really making much of an effort at either end of the ice.
No, it's 2 simple things, from what I can gather:
1. RNH has been garbage offensively, and he's brought Eberle to the sewer with him, along for the ride.
2. Ebs is not attacking the net or going into prime scoring opportunities like he used to so much. He's playing ***** (kitty-cat) hockey, basically, and he's starting to really piss me off.

If only we had a Datsyuk...

Really disappointing that Yakupov hasn't seen any 4v4 time. I'm sure Ryan Smyth is much more explosive and lethal .. pfff

What's been up with Eberle lately? The play constantly dies on his stick, it's like night and day from last season.

Please put Yak or Hemsky on with Gagner and Paajarvi. That can work. Eberle is just sinking the little production we have right now. Why is he on this line? Time for Eberle to get some bottomsix minutes playing like this.

That said theres some positives here.

With 33mins played in the game the Oilers had allowed 9shots, against a good club. Friggen impressive. Sure they only had 6shots but limiting shots against and possession against is good growth. Especially against a club so good at it.

I'm sure to hear lots of groaning here post game, Oilers are terrible, etc. but this team is making some strides on the defensive aspects of the game and it is where they have to improve. When they start doing more with that the offence will come.

He decided to have his sophomore slump a year late.

So on a 4-on-4 in a game we're losing and have no momentum in... Not to mention how tight checking the game has been. Idiot coach Krueger feels it necessary to put Belanger on the ice???? FFS!!!

There's finally room on the ice, put your offensive weapons on you stupid piece of ****.

Prediction:

We come flying out of the gate, tie up the game in the first 3 minutes then Wreck-it puts Smyth, Petrell and Brown into the top6 and we lose in the shoot-out.

It's not just his hands, Eberle looks so slow out there.

He has never been the fastest guy but he can be pretty quick. He just has no jump right now.

Well I dunno what you want me to say, Eberle is use to being able to play a certain way and hasn't adapted his game due to injury. Hopefully for our sake he gets his hands back and can start dipsy doodling around defenders again and potting goals. On another note whats up with RNH? Kind of weird to miss two games over 4-5 days because of the flu. Maybe its just me but I think there might be something else going on with him.

Fancy doesn't count for crap unless the puck goes in the net.
If Hemsky would actually engage in board battles consistently he'd be a useful player going forward. Gagner and Eberle right now are a bad match because they try to play too cute of a game, Ebs has been fighting it this year. Nail needs to be on that line and Ebs should be with Hall and Horcoff leaving Hemsky to play with Jones and Belanger. Hemsky likes to hog the puck so he may as well do it on a line with guys whose talents aren't being wasted because of him doing so.

Word. Excellent post.

EBS off season has to spend all offseason training like Gagner did to try to get an edge back. Gagner is making Eberle look bad this year. Eberle will recover, but he has to bring his training and regimen to a different level. He's getting pushed off to the outside too much and even giving up on battles.
