I'm pissed about that pick moreso than the first one. I was so psyched for Arthur Brown.

lmfao @ idiot Emery...of course he drafts the guy with 9 5/8 hands instead of 10. Just pathetic and predictable for Emery to mess up like this.

The difference between the two is that Brown was a leader on a team that came out of nowhere. He completely elevated that defense. Bostic was another in a group of top recruits.

Bears always try to show how much smarter they are and go against common sense

- Penn State stars always flop ,,, Well show you by drafting Curtis Enis and Michael Haynes in 1st
- Spurrier QB's suck in NFL ,,, Well show you by drafting Rex Grossman in 1st
- McNown and Terrell are POS off field and toxic ,,, Well show you by drafting them in 1st
- Chris Williams has horrid back ,,, Well show you by drafting him in 1st round over better/safer T's
- McClellin cant play DE in NFL ,,, Well show you by drafting him high and putting him there in 4-3 D

Since Ditka was fired and McCaskey's overhauled the team has been constant failure in almost every first round under several regimes

apparently combine stats are all that matters. no need to watch tape.bostic and brown had almost identical combine stats and bostic comes first alphabetically, so pick him.

Workout warriors ,,, I guess Emery would have drafted Ryan Leaf over Manning

I mean Leaf was renowned for his workouts

Pretty good. McClellin had 29 QB pressures (in an injury-shortened season) and a pass rush productivity rating (percentage of time they record a QB pressure) higher than Whitney, Jones and Coples. Sacks can be a fluky stat (QB scrambling and nearest guy gets him, another defender creates the pressure and QB taken down by nearest guy, etc.). QB pressures mean that player caused disruption on that play, which figures into some team stats like third-down defense and team sacks (like being the person who created the pressure that resulted in the sack for say Henry Melton who was in right place when the QB was flushed).

You know what

if Barkley or Nassib are there in 4th round ,, Value wise that wouldn't be bad for Bears

Not in favor of picking QB but if either of those 2 fall to Bears spot it wouldn't be bad value (I like Nassib)

Kansas State was 45th in defense in an awful conference. Florida was 5th. Kansas State was good because they scored a lot

lol. you want to talk about fluky stats, look no further than pass rush productivity rating when comparing a situational pass rusher to guys who can play 3 downs.

Just as I wanted, the Packers took Eddie Lacy.

They have legit speed and power now at what was a weakness.

They were 71 the year before. That's a significant upgrade. And they played in a high powered offensive conference.

Not saying the defense was the reason they won, but Brown's play and the elevation of that D elevated the team to its BCS level.

Not sold on Lacy, he's a powerful back but that stacked offensive line elevated his game. Still worth a gamble though. A lot of people had him as the top back.

Either Emery is a genius and knows players better than anyone else or he's crazy. Time will tell. Bears have serious needs at O-Line and LB.

Reports are they tried to trade down in the 1st but didn't have any takers.
