Jagr-watch: 1 assist away from 1000

With his assist tonight he hits 999 career assists. Only 11 players have hit that marker all-time. He's still one away, but I think its time to start the 1000 assist watch. It's a massive career achievement.

If he plays next year he has a decent chance of beating out Gordie Howe for 8th all-time.

He should retire tonight and go out like a boss.

I don't think the Stars would trade such a veteran with 1,000+ assists.

He is playing great, he's been about the best player on the ice the last couple of games.

If I'm not mistaken only one 40 year old has ever led his team in points

Howe at age 40, 41, 42

Jagr could do it this year

Selanne led the Ducks in scoring last season and he was 41.

He would be the 3rd 40 year old to lead his team in scoring.

Amazing stuff from Jagr. 1000 apples may not be seen again for a very long time.

Alfredsson is turning it on now and is two points back on Gonchar for the Ottawa lead, in regards to 40 year olds and scoring prowess.

One of the modern all-time greats. Amazing career totals considering he experienced two lockouts and spent three years in the KHL. In his prime nobody could stop him cycling off the the half boards with those tree trunk legs of his and strong body position.

Wow, 1000 assists? Unbelievable. It sounds remarkable when you isolate it.

Thornton is the only player even remotely close to it. And he's atleast 5 seasons away from it.

If only he didn't waste those 3 years in the KHL. Imagine where he could have ended up in the record books. Oh well, still one of the best players to ever play. Love watching him every chance I get.

I guess it's a sign of how stupidly low scoring the NHL is these days if a 65 point pace is considered to be a great offensive season.

Agreed, across the board it needs to increase.
