I think Regier will move up in the draft if we do pick outside the top 5. His recent comments lead me to believe this. I imagine the two firsts are a decent starting point. We'd need to add more.

I know it sucks we have to give up extra assets to get that top pick, but it'll be worth it.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. I would fire any GM who trades away a top-6ish pick in this draft.

Fire a GM who moves down from 5 to 8 while picking up assets and still getting their guy? That's a pretty blanket statement to make. Teams watch these guys more than anyone on this site so they have a pretty good idea what the caliber of players are.

So teams will likely value guys like Nurse and Ristalainen over some of the premier forwards like Monahan or Lindholm. Happens every year.

Every year their is a clear cut top 5-10 picks but when you look back at draft it really wasnt the case outside of the top 2-3 picks. Even this years draft their will likely be as good of players taken at 10 as 5.

5 to 6 compared with 5 to 8 makes a huge difference in talent in this draft IMO. So while someone could move 5 to 6 (because they know who the other GM will draft), 5 to 8 might be fire worthy, yeah.

The difference between Lindholm, Monahan, Nurse, Ristalainen and Nichushkin is definetly not fire worthy

If you are trading down its because in all likelihood you don't believe their is a drop off.

Would you rather have Eric Staal or both Dion Phaneuf and Mike Richards?

A trade down in '03 would have made a top-3 franchise better in the long run.

One of the biggest benefits to having a top pick is that they are impact players at a young age, guys picked around 10 can have just as good of careers are usually just a step back in their development. Discounting top 2 picks

Sure, but the Sabres have the "luxury" of their talent lying in under 25 potential. There's not a deadline in the way Vancouver has.

They really need Tampa to come back on the Caps tonight.

Regier doesn't know how to do REAL rebuilds. Your supposed to get rid of the veteran all-star goalie that carries your team and keeps them from bottoming out.

The win tonight puts them drafting Eigth, plus they have a game in hand over Nashville....I'm literally going to cry if the annual drive to 10th happens again...

Enroth has not been markedly worse.

Really you had to expect this. They are loaded up with home games at the end of the year. And they always play better when there's absolutely no pressure.

They are the pre-Toews Blackhawks. Stink until they're out of it, win when there is no pressure.

If the Sabres try to sell off their good players and THEN make the playoffs, I'll die laughing.

Regier can't even say "rebuild" without the fear of vanishing in a cloud of pink mist; him actively trying to tank this team is alternative universe stuff.

Let's face it folks, the tank is moving along. This season was the perfect set of circumstances to tank and have the pain fade.
