So I feel bad posting about it again for fear of jinxing it but this Minnesota thing may happen.

In fact if not for Pominville scoring some timely goals they would have lost their last 10 straight.

I realize if they do miss the playoffs their pick chance will be around 1% but hey crazier things have happened.

With teams like Calgary and Colorado earning points now that Montreal game earlier in the season where the Refs basically rigged the game for us really hurts right now. We'd have a legit shot at #4 if not for those 2 points.

I officially declare the Buffalo Sabres will not be picking #1/2/3/5/6/12/13/14.

I am starting to hope for MIN to fall out of the playoffs more than us moving up a slot or two.

As of right now, based on win%, the Wild would draft 16th. The only team currently sitting in the playoffs who'd draft before Minnesota is Columbus--the Jackets and Wild have the same amount of points, but Minnesota has a game in hand and more ROW's.

Minnesota could be in real trouble if they lose Tuesday night vs LA. The Wings have a winnable game at home against PHX tomorrow, and a win would pull them to within a point of Minnesota. Even though th Wild close vs EDM and @COL, they may be panicking by that time if they drop the game vs LA.

Its hard to believe we could get a #16 overall/Hackett/Larsson/2014 2nd for a very good 30 year old winger with a year left on his deal.

I give up on Edmonton passing us, its down to Philly and Calgary us and New Jersey for 7-10.

At #7 you get one of the elite/top notch prospects in Monahan/Lindholm/Nichushkin at 10 you do not..

If we get pick #7 we are getting a guy that can step in right away or a year away.

There's a good chance all 3 of those guys could be pushed out of the top 10. All it takes is one guy to be taken higher than expected to start guys sliding.

Neither of the 3 players you listed excel at enough things to make them a "lock". If say, a team really likes the offensive ability of someone not projected in the top 10 they will take him if he's available because the 3 guys you mentioned all have holes in their game. And this goes for anyone outside the top 4 IMO.

The refs are so out to get Buffalo, that even though they normally make the Sabres lose, this time (since they could foresee a crappy season), they calculated that the best way to guarantee the Sabres not only missed the playoffs, but didn't get a good pick, was to make sure they won game #8 of the season against Montreal. It was the perfect game to sway too, since nobody would ever expect them to favor a team playing against Montreal. Genius, I tell ya. Sheer genius.

Those refs, they are something.

Its so frustrating. I'd be so much more exciting if we were fighting for a top 5.

Best case tonight is Detroit wins and possilbly in OT to help keep Pheonix ahead of us. We probly wont need that though since Winnepeg is gonna bring it tonight against us.

Pretty sure one of the refs that night was the grandson of umbrella-man on the grassy knoll Thanksgiving week in Dallas, Nov. 1963.

Big night for the tank. Loss to jets. Detroit wins.

Now a three team race for 7-8 in the west. Minny is still in good position but you never know.

Would be so nice to have two draft picks in the lotto!!

It is entirely possible that the Wild miss the playoffs right about now. The race is so close and the Canucks basically locked in the 3rd seed. Even if they managed to squeak in the Ducks or Hawks will make quick work of them and possible give us a 15-20th pick in addition to our 7-10 pick.

Their pick could possibly even get as low as #13 depending on how the last few games in the East end up as well. Best case scenario is that Winnipeg Washington is a 3 point game to give both teams 53 points and slide New York and Ottawa down.

They just got spanked by Calgary 4-1 at home...They look entirely lost out there. Just like we ended Pittsburghs 15 game win streak and consistent beat Boston somehow...NHL makes no sense.

Canucks clinch the Northwest, which is good for the Wild pick.

Not necessarily---if Minnesota advanced to the conference finals its 27-30.

If Minnesota loses out their pick could be 12th

I know that, but simply looking at the odds, it's more likely that they don't.

If they were to meet the Ducks in the first round they might end up winning a series because they are equally as bad, but on paper they'd be shredded by five of the seven other teams in the West.

Buffalo currently at 9th...

if they lose their final 2 and each of the following will mean they pass Buffalo...

1. Edmonton earn 3 pts over the final 3 CHI min VAN
2. Carolina earn 5 pts in final 3 NYI NYR pit
3. Nashville earn 5 pts in final 3 CGY det cbs
4. Tampa Bay 6 pts in final 3 TOR bos FLA
5. Philadelphia 1 pt in final 3 BOS NYI ott
6. Calgary 2 pts in final 3 nash stl chi

need to have CGY win tomorrow because their other 2 are difficult
PH: should get 1 pt from those 3 games

I want EDM to beat MIN to make MIN pick potentially better. Since the other 2 are home I think they could get a pt. Vancouver would have their spot wrapped up for their game.

i think their best landing spot is 6th.

Any pts they earn you have to add the pts earned to the pts the other teams need to earn to pass Buffalo.

Buffalo loss clinches no worse that 10th pick.
Buffalo loss with New Jersey win clinches no worse than 9th pick.
Edmonton will not pass us nor will any team below them.
