Kadri needs to get faster. When he was 18 after the draft, he was so much faster than he is now. He's gotten slower over the years, even though he's stronger and better defensively. If he can regain that speed he once had, then I'd put him over Seguin. But till then, I'd say Seguin has the edge. Btw, age has nothing to do with my decision, I don't follow typical HFboard nonsense.

Why is considering age a bad thing when deciding who you'd rather take?

When considering a 20 year old against a 27 year old or something like that, than its not ridiculous. But making a one year or two year difference in age and saying that's a major factor for a player is crappy logic. As crappy as saying, "player A got __pts when he was 19 and it was better than player B's numbers at 19 so that means when player A is player B's age he should have more pts than him.

Just like you always love reminding everyone about Kadri, players can regress. So for age (unless its a blindingly obvious factor) can't be used to just name a player better.

Just the fact that a Maple Leafs fan of all people had to start this thread left a bad taste in my mouth. Voted Seguin, duh.

I take Seguin without a second thought. I love Naz, but if I could do a one-for-one swap id run to the bank pissing because I'm so god damn happy.

Ok yea that makes sense. Yea that argument is dumb, point totals don't automatically go up from year to year.

It definitely can't be the only factor, but if they're close in ability I'd say it would probably be smarter to go with the younger guy.

They'll probably rack up similar point totals going forward, but kadri brings much more grit to the table.

In this case Seguin is also the more proven prospect in addition to being younger. He has 203 games played and 121 pts. Kadri is doing well this year but it's entirely possible he's overachieving or defense could figure him out and render him less effective.

Seguin is the safer bet and also has the higher ceiling IMO.

Same could be said for Seguin though

Considering the season he just had along with his brutal playoffs so far, looks like teams already figured Sequin out

What were Kadri's stats after the hat trick against the Sens (regular season and playoffs)?

9 points in 19 games. Will be interesting to see the numbers that Kadri will post next season. I'd be happy if he solidifies himself as a top 2 C next season along with ~60 points.

If anything, Seguin underachieved this season. Kadri had a career year.

Thanks. Knew they dropped off, but .5ppg isn't that bad.

I think Kadri is going to top out at a 60-70pt center. Which, if you ask me, is pretty good.

Yes but this wasn't Seguins first or second season. This was his third and he produced at nearly an identical pace as last year indicating home has the ability to adapt.

Younger, already more consistent, higher draft pedigree, and the fact Seguin is buried behind depth limiting his use while Kadri is being leaned in quite heavily this year all indicate Seguin is still the better and safer choice.

I'd take Seguin but I do think he's a little overrated. He's on the best team in the league playing with some of the best players in the league. Kadri is playing on a borderline playoff team making everyone around him better. Who knows what the future holds.

This is a weird bump to say you'd take Seguin

Also, he most certainly is not playing with the best players in the league. I'd argue Kadri had better linemates than Seguin does now.

The Leaf hate is strong in this thread. What on earth has Seguin done to deserve this?

He looked good last year but really has looked like a one-trick pony this year. I'd still take him over Kadri based on his potential though.

It's really close for me now.

Kadri's linemates are times were 3rd liners. At other times he was playing with Lupul so it really depends on what you'd consider his line.

I'm interested to see what these poll numbers would look like if I were to do re-do this poll
