That happened a few weeks ago. Rob Z and Marty Raymond are running the show in Syracuse.

Agree with this. Good hire and good luck to you guys. Hopefully he can get another good year out of Ohlie.

If he gets anything out of Ohlund, that would be remarkable. He hasn't played in two seasons.

When he was healthy he was always a workhorse under Bowness. I'm hoping he can still come back... Is he really not expected to play again next year?

Worse for the Lightning, it is possible the defenseman will collect the $6.75 million he is owed in the final three years of his contract even though, as he admitted, "My chances of playing again are very minor."

Some names he's helped develop in Vancouver.
I hope that this guy can get Brewer out of whatever funk he's been in these last 2 years. If he would play even close to how he was his first year, it would help us out a lot.

Pete Peeters retired over in Anaheim. Roloson ought to be the leading candidate to take over that gig there.

I maintain that Roli would (will) be an excellent goalie coach. Just wish they'd ditch Jean already.

Sportsnet reports coach Paul Maurice has been interviewed by the #Canucks, #TBLightning and #Oilers
https://twitter.com/Hockey_tracker/s...54024919179264

What should be taken note of is the style of play Maurice has been associated with is very defensive.

Random fact: Paul Maurice was born exactly 20 years before me.

If we hadn't fired Boucher and named Cooper head coach, he probably would be one of the top candidates for the Canucks job. If they're looking at Eakins and Cooper has way better credentials, it's a good thing we did what we had to do then. Of course, Cooper hasn't yet proven much in the NHL yet...

There's no doubt in my mind he would have gotten hired somewhere this offseason had we not made the move first.

An interesting and possibly very true thought, but assuming that Syracuse made the Calder Cup Final in such a scenario, I've got to wonder about how the coaching market would play out with Cooper's team finishing so late.

Ok, I've got to ask, who is Maurice? I looked him up, and it seems like he is a defensive coach... but I thought that Bones was our defensive guy? Sorry, I really don't know my coaches right now.

If I had to guess Maurice was interviewed before Bowness was hired and is no longer in consideration.

Paul Maurice used to be the head coach for Carolina (twice) and both the Toronto Maple Leafs and Marlies, winning the cup with CAR in 2006. He most recently coached Metallurg.

Bones is our defensive guy, but what I meant was that as head coach, Paul Maurice's teams tended to play defensively overall. Bones works with the defensemen and PK.

I think Laviolette (who also might be on the market in the near future) was coach for Carolina during their cup run. That said, Maurice still has a decent track record and would probably make a good assistant somewhere, at least.

Correct. My bad. Maurice was coach when CAR made the 2002 SCF.

Did Glenn Healy say that the Oilers offered the associate job to Bowness, who turned them down? Man, that sucks for Krueger.

There's one coach I'd have no problem seeing canned....

Ahh got ya. I thought that what you meant, but I wasnt sure if I had missed something along the way.

Im still hoping that we hear something about our goal coach (that doesnt start with the sentence "re-signed").

Pens goalie coach Gilles Meloche is expected to resign (yes resign, not re-sign).
