Taking shots at LI? Hmm. This article is 98% about Bryz and 2% about other stuff, including Jones Beach.

He's not wrong. With his contract and the money he probably only knows Caribbean beaches and they definitely blow away beaches on LI.

With that said I love LI beaches. Point is, if that's what he's used to he's not telling falsehoods.

makes me wonder what he thinks people surf in if what he is referring to( blue tranquil water) only qualify as a "beach". let's not forget consistently one of the best rated beaches in the world is on long island too(main beach, east Hampton).

I'll take Clearwater Beach or any beach in Florida over Jones Beach.

According to MSG's Bill Pitdo he was benched against the Islanders because he fell asleep at a team meeting.

What a clown

In all fairness he does have a good point about Jones Beach. I've been tons and tons of beaches down here in FL that blow it away-he's def. right about that. Personally I would never move back to LI (and I used to be one of those "LI is the best place ever" people too), but after leaving for a significant amount of time-I couldn't do it again. But enough of that haha. We don't need Bryz anyways!

Yeah I really don't disagree with him.

When I think of a beach, the picture in my mind is of turquoise water. Not this dark dank green muck we swim in. hey I like Jones Beach & Manhattan Beach as much as any NYer, but they're not pretty beaches by any stretch of the imagination.

Lmao that's great, well i'm glad it happened because we won.

nothing i find offensive here. I think hes confused on the definition of a "Beach" but if his point is jones beach isn't as nice as the carribean/florida then i agree with him 100%

big surprise. someone takes a shot at long island and the "fans" here rather than take exception to someone insulting us, jump on it and agree.. another thread that turns into lets hate on long island...yes jones beach is "not a beach".. maybe he should just get a dictionary... overcrowded yes, not in the warm or tropic climates (thus the dark water) but still a beach..I guess being born in the old soviet union makes him an expert..too funny the reaction. I love the beaches in hawaii and florida, amongst others. Jones beach is a state park not a resort and for the northeast it is nice to have a short drive away..

Don't get me wrong there is a lot I love and miss about Long Island. I don't want my prior statement above to miss that point.

...So thinking Jones Beach sucks makes me less of an Islander fan?

Great place for a concert, ****** place to go swimming. Still though, I think most agree he makes a good point if he is referring to Jones Beach. I actually like his "I could care less" attitude as a person. I'm sure his teammates and coaches hate it but you saw some guys saying stuff during the lockout that have been around forever and their candidness is breathtaking in a world where every player has a damn press agent.

Biggest problem with LI beaches is, like the rest of LI they have become the land of "NO"

Our winter beach in FLA is

1.Free to go to
2. 95% less crowded
3. Would let you bring a keg and flat screen tv if you could get it there
4. Is 1000000 times cleaner

One of my fondest memories of growing up on LI was sitting at Robert Moses drinking a cold one with Bob Murphy painting a picture on WOR radio. or Every radio on the beach tuned into WBAB

Today doing that would put me in handcuffs.

1. who cares? really.
2. i've been to every beach on long island over the years. love the beach, but to pretend that our beaches - despite what ratings say - hold a candle to the world's best is, and has been, silly. then again...
3. who cares? we like them just fine AND (here's what makes them awesome imho) they're 30 minutes to an hour from NYC.

Really, I think he was just having some fun. Whatever he says about LI beaches also would apply (plus some) to the NJ beaches where Flyers fans go.
