ACL + MCL tear in his left knee on a collision with Lucic some time ago. Maybe I chose the wrong word for career-threatening, but for a physical and well-skating defenseman a knee injury like that is very dangerous.

I haven't been able to watch any of Russia's games, but since they've played a few already, how is Loktionov playing? I understand that his line-mates are Kovy and Radulov, but how is he faring?

You're absolutely right. Orthopedic surgery is definitely more advanced these days, and recoveries are more complete, but a lot of great players in the past have lost speed, quickness and agility permanently as a result of those kinds of injuries. I will be pulling for him - you've gotta love Emelin!

My impression is that he's done pretty well, but not well enough to make a case for including him on the roster in Sochi.

Not all that well, but he's an inexperienced player who plays his first Worlds, and suddenly on the 1st line - I won't be harsh on him.

So, we have Montreal beaten by Ottawa last night. Is Markov sitting on a plane already?

Тренер сборной России Дмитрий Юшкевич сообщил, что команда не спешит с дозаявками на чемпионат мира, ожидая результатов матчей Кубка Стэнли с участием "Торонто" и "Детройта".
That means not only Datsyuk is a candidate, also Nikolai Kulyomin

Yushkevich: We expect Kulyomin/Datsyuk/Voynov

That means as long as the LA Kings are not eliminated there will be no decision about markov.

But what happends if for example Rangers beats washington and islanders (somehow) beat pittsburgh? Wonīt Malkin and ovechkin replace kulyomin and voynov? Or does Bilyaletdinov want to test those 2 before the olympics?

Russia seem really high on Voynov, I wonder why.

Is it just me or do every russian player who gets the call from the national team, say Yes sign me up. In Sweden and other countries there are many "No thanks", how come?

Dasyuk instead of Loktionov and Kulemin instead of Mozyakin(Petrov)?
It may works.

May be addition of Kuznetsov will help.
Something like
Kovalchuk-Loktionov-Kuznetsov
Mozyakin-Tereschenko-Radulov

Right now only one line plays

Just wondering... Which team do you Russian fans want Russia to face the most and the least in the quarterfinal game? Let's assume Finland, USA and Slovakia will qualify. Or will you take any matchup that would avoid facing Canada in the semis or do you actually want to beat Canada as soon as possible ? Or do you perhaps want a revenge vs Finland now that Finland beat you today or do you find USA the most beatable as you already beat them once?

My philosophy has always been that you have to beat all the (good) teams to be able to say you're a true champion. For other teams I require that they have beaten Russia and Canada (that's why I'm not too happy with Swedens olympic gold in 06 when they lost 0-5 to Russia and 0-3 to Slovakia).
Last year was the only year which Russia didnīt face Canada for a very looong time.
Anyway I was looking forward to Sweden/Canada in a semi, but now I feel like we have to beat Finland in the semi's instead.
I would prefer Slovakia over USA in a quarter.

Pesonen looks like he started crying after getting KOed by Kovy. I assume Pesonen didnt realize what he was asking for.

It was right call that pesonen got a major also. Would have been ridicilius if he wouldnt just because he was the loser.

I don't know whether he is crying or not but his nose was broken. You do understand that if you are going to fight, you should get rid of your gloves. Gloves on is very cheap. Firstly, by getting rid of your gloves you're sending the "get ready" message to the opponent so that you're not cheap shotting. Secondly, the gloves will make any injury incurred on the opponent worse.

Right call...keep it up, this is pretty funny
