Anton Babchuk and Cory Sarich

Looks like the Flames are about to clean house.

Quote:
Just told Flames GM Jay Feaster sent an email to 29 GMs informing Anton Babchuk and Cory Sarich are available. Both have NTCs.

Re: Sarich and Babchuk. Sarich has NTC. Flames have not asked him to waive. Babchuk has no-trade to 10 teams, can be traded to other 19.

Obviously the Anton gets what he wants but how did Sarich, Stajan and 8 other players all get NTC's?

Depends the quality of the prospects and pick.

Also, where are these quotes coming from?

Would'nt mind though seeing the Wings getting Anton Babchuk they need a right handed Defenseman to replace Ian White and he's young at 27 years old.

Wideman is the flames defensemen with the big shot, rendering Babchuk kind of useless.

A seventh rounder for another body on defense doesn't seem like a bad idea. The Flames could even take a scrub AHL with an NHL contract back to keep contracts balanced.

7th for Anton, 5th for Sarich... is all I would really expect for either of these guys.

Both of them will waive. If they are getting a chance to play then its not a problem. I really don't think NTC are a big deal as they are made out to be.

Haha that was my first thought. Obvious jokes aside, why the hell did they need NTCs to be signed

The Anton will choose where he wants to go, and that's only if he wants to go anyways.

No-Trade clauses for bottom-pairing defensemen. Four million dollars handed to a 27 year old who has never played in the NHL. How the **** did Jay Feaster build a Stanley Cup winner 9 years ago?

You really don't know what you're talking. And that's a huge surprise.

Cervenka signed a standard entry level contract. Much of that 3.775M come from bonuses, the kind which could only be earned if Cervenka won the Conn Smythe, Richards, etc.

Honestly, it's amazing how people can continue to spout complete and utter fabrications over and over again.

I believe when Sarich signed he was a UFA and a decent second pairing guy. NTC was probably necessary to entice him to come to Calgary.

Originally yeah. Sarich was actually re-signed last summer and we Flames fans are as mind-boggled as you are about why he got a NTC as he's barely a third-pairing guy at this point.

You're missing the point.

If you're going to sign a player that can only sign an ELC, you have to offer max bonuses. Look at J. Schultz. ELC + Max Bonus, that's how you separate from the other teams to get a guy you want.

Oh I thought he was still on that first contract. Yeah giving him another NTC makes little sense.
