Jagr to montreal

Jagr and plekanec played on the same team during the lockout and were #2and #3 in scoring in the league. What's it going to take to get him in mtl?

Habs and Plekanec are doing ok without him. He's a wonder at his age and all, but I wouldn't give up what it would take to get him on the Habs. The Habs need other elements more.

It was actually Kladno of the Czech league, but he would be a interesting acquisition if Bourque is done for the season.

Seems like the Stars want to re-sign, IMO if he was available, the Habs would have tied to tried to get him for Cole, not Ryder.

Oops. I agree that'd he'd be a good pick up should bourque be out long term.

They do need some toughness that's for sure. I just thought if they had the chance they might do it.

Jagr for LeBlanc?

Keep in mind that Jagr is leading the Stars in scoring.

Could have cost a contract when he was UFA and Habs weren't interested at the time

I answered a 2nd + a mid-range prospect (Holland, Naatinen or Quailer) in another thread. It's still what I think the habs should pay if there's any trading. Could consider adding Pateryn if that makes the deal better. I don't think they should offer more than that.

I heard today they might try to keep him in Dallas. At the time of the cole/Ryder deal Dallas may have felt closer to being in the hunt for the play offs

He was looking for more than what mtl was offering. From what I read he was disappointed by the offer because he really wanted to play there.

There was no cap room to sign Jagr (or PA Parenteau, or... ) and that was the story then.

To have Jagr on a relatively young team especially the forward group i could see Dallas throw the same money at him or maybe a little more to help teach Benn more than he has. He has mentioned in interviews in Dallas that he likes his role with the team in term of a more educational role to the young promising stars (). With that said it would take a decent haul for Dallas to move him i would think.

Not at all unfair from a the usual rental player trade deadline valuation, but... I just wouldn't bother entering into that market from the Habs' POV. He's a good player and all, but I just don't see how he (or about anybody - or 3 anybodies) available at the deadline really make the Habs a "real contenduh". No point in giving up futures for fantasy.

The Dallas beat reporter previously stated Jagr had no desire to sign a contract during the season. I assume that hasn't changed. Dallas is free to talk to his agent, but I don't think just because they are talking that it's a certainty a contract gets done.

Bergevin is on record as not having been interested last Summer. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. I'm inclined to believe him.

There's no doubt Jagr and Pleks have chemistry. Jagr is still strong on the puck, still good down low, and can still score.

It's an option if Bourque gets shut down for the year, but I don't think Bergevin considers it.
