Maybe players in the east won't know as well as players in the west and they'll actually try to hit Murray making for some of those entertaining counter hits that sends them flying.

Steep price to pay for Murray, but I like what the Pens are doing.

Great defenseman in NHL 13

...in real life, not so much.

Pittsburgh can't be done though, Morrow and Murray add intimidation but not by any means are they the final pieces to make it all the way to the Finals.

Confirmed by TSN. 2 2nd rounders. My gosh.. I hope he's exactly the player they need. If he isn't I'll be very disappointed in the Pens.

Are 2 late second round picks really a big return? Neither of the players drafted then are likely to ever have any impact in the NHL. But I guess people love the mystery box...

Woot!

1) We got 2 2nd's, awesome!

2) Demers won't get scratched as much!

3) He didn't get a roster player back which may signal at least a partial re-build.

Couldn't be happier.

A lot of times the team can make the player look worse. San Jose is horrible, maybe that's why he looks horrible?

Niskanen was horrible in Dallas, great in Pittsburgh.
Gill was horrible in Toronto, great in Pittsburgh.

Wasn't Letang a 2nd rounder in '05?

They are valuable, especially if a team wants to trade up in the 1st.

This. What is the likelihood a 2nd rounder becomes an NHL regular? 10%? 20%?

See, your assumption is that Murray will help the team.

I don't buy that. At all.

Murray is lousy. He's a minor improvement over Mark Eaton, who we acquired for free, who was already blocking our superior younger players.

2 second rounders for a guy who should be a #7 defender at this point in his career. That's just unforgivable.

For a UFA who's been our worst defenseman by a mile this year? Absolutely.

So Murray gets 2 2nd rounders and Morrow gets Morrow. St. Louis got totally ripped off in their deal for D'ags.

Murray has been that bad recently? He always impressed me in previous years as an oiler fan. Big body. Pitt is going for it this year by the looks of it big time and are no afraid to pay the price for depth and upgrades. Good for them for being pro active.

Shero's going all in, high price but I think the prospect pool is strong enough to withstand losing the 2nds and Morrow.

If anything it's Chicago and Anaheim that's not as good as their record shows.

Basically this...People act like giving up a pick is like damning your team for the next 20 years.

It was better when people were complaining about a 6th rounder for Matt Kassian though.
