They say Clowe could want an extension in place if he accepts a trade since he has a NTC. But even then, the guy is NOT worth Couturier. I'd much rather trade Couturier for Bobby Ryan in the offseason if they really want to trade him for a winger.
This team may make the playoffs, but even if they do, they'll get 8th seed and face Pittsburgh. I get they play Pitt tough, but even if they were to somehow beat Pitt in the first, what has this team shown this year that makes anyone think they could make a Cup run? Cut your losses Holmgren, this is not the Flyers' year.
"Clowe seems to make much more sense. He is a sturdy, reliable winger who could play alongside Claude Giroux to help him create. He has just 11 assists (no goals) in 29 games this season, but has been a relatively consistent, 50-point scorer over the last handful of seasons. Clowe averaged 54 points per year from 2008-2012.
It is interesting to see what the burgeoning market will bring for Clowe. Some seem to think the Sharks overvalue Clowe, but there is clearly a list of teams lined up for his services."
