Loui Eriksson may be available? (Read OP)

Larry Brooks of New York post is speculating that Dallas may be on a verge of embracing a rebuild and could be looking at making Eriksson available.

If this indeed holds any truth, I would imagine 29 teams would be knocking on the doors pretty hard. A young scoring star with a great two way game are rare to find these days.

Why trade a 27 year old? It's not as if he won't be ready to go down the road for them and they have to hope they can somehow find another Eriksson down the road now plus whatever they're lacking now too

If you think you are not going to be ready for 3 seasons, when he is 30, why not capitalize on his value being high right now and get what would likely be a 1st in a deep draft and a couple of young pieces?

Too be clear, this is Brooks' own opinion. There is nothing to suggest that Eriksson will be made available.

That is why I put the title from Brooks POV.

I am not sure how reliable this guy is but it's interesting nonetheless, especially considering all the drama surrounding Dallas this year.

For reference, Loui is signed for three more seasons after this one at a 4.25m cap hit. It looks like all of those years are equal for caphit/actual salary.

I'd imagine Eriksson would cost a premium, as in a legit young forward, a highly ranked prospect or a very high pick. Along the lines of what Philly acquired for Jeff Carter.

He'd be amazing on a team like Minnesota on a line with Parise and Koivu. Think Setoguchi, a 1st and Charlie Coyle would entice the Stars?

Brooks is an idiot..he suggested that the Hawks will have to buy out Hossa.

If they were ever in cap trouble...they could easily trade Hossa for a bit less.

Because 30 isn't old at all and you're hoping you can get a player like Eriksson with a 1st

Bozak+Frattin+2013 1st+Prospect(not Reilly/Gardiner, Biggs? Finn? Percy?) Could also add any of our depth players to help balance the trade.

Young Top6 Center, Young top6 Winger, Good first round pick, Pick of a prospect from our stockpile.

Lupul-Kadri-Eriksson
JVR-Grabo-Kessel

Thats a solid top6.

If there is any remote chance this is true, we would want a #1 or #2 center + #1 defenseman! If not, a #1 defenseman + #1 and a #2 pick; minimum.

Kessel, yes. JVR no.

We are trying to build a solid phsyical top6. He is the prototype for what we want, maybe a little meaner.

Never move JVR.
